@drsukenshah It was such an honor to have you here! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and providing your perspective on spine surgery and mentoring. We took away a ton from your lectures and journal club. Most importantly, the food and drink were top notch—so glad to share this with you in LA!

#TBT Last week, I participated in the 23rd Annual Combined Pediatric Orthopaedic Visiting Professor Program in Los Angeles. This is an incredibly unique program that brings together hospitals across LA for a special talk each year. I was thrilled to speak on “Current Concepts and Controversies in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis” and participate in lectures with Drs. Donald Bae and Derek Kelly. Additionally, I participated in the 33rd Annual G. Wilbur Westin Visiting Professorship at Shriners Children's Southern California, and spoke on early-onset scoliosis: non-operative treatment to final spinal fusion, the spine in Osteogenesis Imperfecta, and the value of mentorship. What left an even bigger impression than the talks was the hospitality I received throughout my entire stay, specifically from Dr. Robert Cho. @drrobertcho ensured that my stay was productive, enjoyable, and most of all comfortable, right down to the accommodations. While I get to spend time with trainees and residents at most visiting professorships, this visit took it to another level with arranging a fantastic journal club at a local brewery. It was gratifying to share and discuss my journal articles with the next generation of spine and pediatric orthopaedic surgeons. And what would be a trip to LA without amazing food? The team and I had a fantastic dinner at @somnirestaurant, with an amazing chef doing wonderful things in a theatrical way. Shout out to @drspoon8 for the cardboard cutout of me; it made for some great photos. Thank you to all those who had a hand in arranging this amazing trip, which is one I won’t soon forget. @CHLAKidSafety @shrinershosp @ShrinersSoCal @LuskinOIC @CampbellClinic #spinalfusion #orthotwitter #orthosurgeons #menorship

Most of all, I’d like to thank my hosts Mr. Anand Segar and Mr. Haemish Crawford, who really made me feel like royalty for the week. Both of you are consummate surgeons and gentlemen. Look forward to seeing any of my new Kiwi friends in LA—happy to return the favor.

The dinner at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron was amazing, and I got to see the America’s Cup! The boat rides were epic, and the hill climb up Rangitoto Island was an adventure I will never forget.

It was one of the biggest honors of my career to be the Ross Nicholson Invited Visiting Professor for Starship Children’s Hospital & New Zealand Orthopaedic Association/Residency. New Zealand may be the prettiest country I have ever seen, with some of the friendliest people.

Just wrapped up in Barcelona at the 59th @SRS_org Annual Meeting. Learned so much! The best part was seeing my friends from around the world. These meetings make me a better surgeon and make me excited to help more patients with scoliosis. Look forward to the next one! #srsam24

This is an awesome study that helps give patients and surgeons real data to understand risk of progression of scoliosis depending on curve size and Sanders score (growth potential). Congrats to @JaxScoliosisDoc for his hard work and thoughtfulness about this paper!

Proud to share our latest publication in the Spine Deformity journal. rdcu.be/dQKWz We used the same methodology as Sanders, et al. to create predictive tables for girls and boys with progression of AIS to 35°, 40°, 45°, and 50°. @Nemours @MayoClinic @Mizzou

This is a 11 year old w/syndromic scoliosis from a mitochondrial abnormality. Very stiff curve corrected w/temp internal distraction, Pontes, & dual rod reduction. Alignment was improved in all three planes. Six months and doing great. @shrinerssocal @shrinershospitals #scoliosis

The @POSNA_org Leadership Program has come to an end and it has been an amazing ride. Incredible mentors and colleagues helped to provide a once in a lifetime experience. But more importantly, we forged friendships that will last forever!

@generalorthomd I was at Snowbird last month. First day was whiteout conditions so pretty dangerous. But next two days were perfect. Amazing terrain and variety. But getting from one side to another is annoying. Lots of catwalks which sucks for snowboarders like me.

Snowbird/Alta is the best pure skiing destination in the US, and a fine place to start my ski vacation spring break. There’s also a shoulder arthroplasty meeting here every 2 years for the SkiCME crowd.
