FYI resident doctors, if you are working a shift tonight that means you work an additional hour because of the clocks, you should exception report. nhsemployers.org/publications/f…

@gdcuk @medicaccountant @HullHospitals Ah I see what I’ve done: only considered post retirement benefits. Makes more sense if you can claim back contributions if less than 2 years. Glad to have pension experts and not have to navigate this myself!

@medicaccountant @drterrylo @HullHospitals Very unlikely to be wise to opt out, unless you 100% guarantee you won't die, 100% guarantee you won't have an illness that stops you working, 100% guarantee that your plans won't change and 100% guarantee you can find something better to do with the contributions.

I wonder if anyone advises international fellows to opt out of the NHS pension? Specifically those coming for a 1 year fellowship and not planning on staying. Not an insignificant amount of money. Or if they leave, do they automatically get it back or do they have to apply?

@drterrylo @HullHospitals I wouldn’t be giving recommendations in a regulated area is the thought that jumps out. Be careful and ask them or there employers to take advice.
