One of the questions I get asked a lot is about delta transmission through pets. According to my research they can be potential super-spreaders. What I have done personally is wrap my cats in a protective latex film to mitigate the effects.

@ClintVSmith I’ve been thinking about a bonus system for the PM. It would create the right incentive to save lives. In five years we get Hendy to do a model of the expected deaths under an incompetent leader and then we look at the total deaths we have had. The PM gets $1000 x the difference.

@AAragurn Yes, its a mystery to me why people would even consider bringing children into this world and inflicting harm on them. I recently performed a vasectomy on myself to ensure I would never bring spawn into this world (painful but worth it).

@drterrymcd Hi Terry, Would enforced sterilisation for everyone also help prevent babies from being exposed to this dastardly virus?

@ClintVSmith Yes, that was my initial hypothesis Clint. Vaccinated population = 90% therefore, support for vax mandates = 90%. However it appears there is a disturbing subgroup forming of vaccinated people who don’t support mandates (perhaps because they aren’t afraid of the virus anymore?)

@virginiahume @NahasNewman New Zealand has a world leading covid response and it shows what would have been possible if the US had followed the science. We closed our international borders and locked down for 6 weeks and then covid was gone, it really is that easy. The US could have done the same.

@NahasNewman I've always wondered why Sweden must only be compared to Norway and Finland, but the U.S. can (should!) be compared to New Zealand.

@farmgeek This is a lovely, welcoming sign John. I think its a warning sign if you don't see one of these on someones front door😨. Actually now that I think about it I have seen disturbingly few around my neighbourhood

@henrycooke It's going to be a much safer environment for everyone. Under the new framework I could be sitting next to someone at the hairdressers who is vaccinated and covid positive but I feel safe knowing I won't be sitting next to anyone who is unvaccinated.

Quite soon, adults who haven’t got the vaccine won’t be able to: - Work in ~40% of jobs - Fly our main airline internationally - Fly our main airline domestically without a negative test - Go to large festivals - Attend any event where the host decides to discriminate

@hendysh That’s correct Shaun. We are getting around 3 cases a day in MIQ which is simply unacceptable. The cost is people suffering being separated from their families and missing out on key life events but the benefit is 3 less cases a day. The maths is simple.

I was just having a heated argument with a colleague over the phone. When I quad mask i wear surgical -> cloth -> N95 -> P100. He was saying the correct way is cloth -> surgical -> N95 -> P100. What do you guys think? (there might not be a correct answer just personal preference)

This is great news!! Pandemic changing news. Victoria has had to close 200 schools due to outbreaks since they started reopening them. 200,000 kids got covid in the UK when schools opened. @covid19nz @chrishipkins @AndrewLittleMP @minhealthnz - how quick can we protect kids?!

Addendum: -0.5-4 vaccines would be preferred. We need to start researching foetal vaccinations.

Great to see the FDA recommending the vaccine for our vulnerable 5-11 year olds. I’m still just waiting for those 0-4 jabs. It makes me sick knowing a relative of mine (my 4 year old nephew) is unvaccinated and I will be staying far away from them until they’re double jabbed.

@GovRonDeSantis @FLSurgeonGen You’re an inspiration Ron. Here in New Zealand we are at the beginning of our latest wave and we need your help to crush the curve. Please reach out to the people of New Zealand, we are amazed that you managed to crush 3 waves of covid!

34 days ago, @FLSurgeonGen signed a rule that empowered FL parents, eliminated healthy quarantines & kept healthy kids in school. Now, FL has the lowest COVID rate in the nation, our schools had a 76% decrease in cases since the rule became effective & a 90% decrease since August

People have been asking what dangerous things the unvaxed do. I once had an unvaxed patient who I diagnosed with asymptomatic fatigue (via zoom). I told him he must stay in bed for 3 weeks to rest, he disobeyed my orders. He was ok in the end but it could have gone horribly wrong

@DrJinRussell Jin what are your thoughts on having seperate supermarkets for vaccinated and unvaccinated. I know some people (myself included 😅) don’t feel safe going to supermarkets without vaccine certificates. This seems like a good solution to me.

I am a little confused as to why we even need more vaccine mandates when the PM already put “if you want a haircut, get vaccinated” out there

This is why I love New Zealand, we are one of the few countries in the world that care about public health and will go to any length to achieve it. It’s a shame that supermarkets won’t require vaccine certificates I’m not sure where I will be able to shop safely for groceries.

@OzraeliAvi I'm hoping we follow your lead here in New Zealand. Children are some of the worst offenders when it comes to infection prevention measures (part of the reason I'm not having children). Will be great to see them learn a valuable lesson early on in life.

Some people asked why I had to go to the Jet Park. I have a history of mental health problems so it was determined I wouldn't be alright isolating on my own. I was overwhelmed with the support from everyone, thanks once again!

My time at the Jet Park has been positive but I'm looking forward to being home and continuing my independent research. I found it hard to concentrate sometimes when my neighbour was screaming and kicking down his front door, lucky I brought my noise cancelling headphones.

Great news! My day 3 covid test at the Jet Park has come back negative. Its not too surprising because I didn't have many symptoms and I had a high CT value on my initial test (likely late stage infection).
