@markfeds @fordhamhoopsfan @wfuvsports It would be stupid to build a larger arena when they can't fill the small one that they currently use. I agree that it's easier to compete now with NIL, but will Fordham actually spend the money? I'll believe it when I see it.

For 2 decades, I have debated with alums who said the only way we could compete is with an arena and training facilities. we can have a respectable and competitive program in the NIL era on the cheap, w/o a new arena

Would you prefer for Fordham to cut the Football program to use the savings to make the MBB team more competitive? The same poll is currently 77% (1,756 total responses) in favor of cutting FB to invest in the MBB program on the Fizz app. @fordhamhoopsfan @wfuvsports

The fact is that the program is 139-376 (including vacated wins) since joining the A-10. Worst in the A-10 since joining the conference. We haven't seen winning, let alone consistent winning.

Georgetown, Villanova, UConn, Butler, Dayton, Davidson, Duquesne, URI and Richmond. Bottom line when we consistently win in basketball the revenue will grow.

@markfeds @fordhamhoopsfan @wfuvsports I would like to think that's the case, but the history shows that's just not the case. Fordham has been in the A-10 since the 1995-96 season. Fordham has won 10 conference games in a season twice and one of those seasons doesn't technically count due to vacated wins.

@fordhamhoopsfan @drunkenramshop @wfuvsports We can still keep football while increasing the NIL for basketball. It’s not going to take too much to move Fordham to a middle to top of the pack a-10. Recruits care more about NIL than facilities/home arena. Play neutral games in MSG, brooklyn or PRU and schedule games

Fordham has a larger endowment than UCONN, Xavier, Providence, St. John's, Butler, Dayton, Duquesne, and URI so it's hard to understand how they are competitive, but we haven't been

@fordhamhoopsfan @wfuvsports I went there so I know all about the tradition. Unfortunately, there are few people still alive who have seen Fordham do anything of note on a FB field. Same goes for MBB. Much easier to field a competitive team of 12 players with the same amount of money they spend on FB

@drunkenramshop @wfuvsports Not wrong. Fordham was originally a football power though. Seven Blocks of Granite, Vince Lombardi, 1942 Sugar Bowl, etc. There are arguments to drop it, one of them being space it would free up, but that’s a lot of (albeit old) tradition to walk away from and would upset

@fordhamhoopsfan @wfuvsports I just feel like Football is too expensive and they're not competitive in an FCS program. Seems wasteful. Could use that extra money to try to make the MBB program similar to Marquette, St. John's, Providence, Xavier, etc. Small, Jesuit schools with no FB program

@drunkenramshop @wfuvsports It's a fair question and something I wouldn't be opposed to personally, but in reality won't happen. Football has good donor support with longstanding tradition and my understanding is cutting the program is a non-starter.
