Incident alert: @PVDFireDept is working to extinguish a fire in a one-story commercial building, approximately 40x80 feet, with vehicles inside. Forty-seven firefighters are on scene; no injuries reported at this time.

Today I'm proud to announce that we've added a brand new rescue with the most up-to-date technology and are hiring 16 new firefighters to join the force in the upcoming months. These efforts are in thanks to the Providence City Council and with support from Senator Whitehouse, Senator Reed, Congressman Amo and Congressman Magaziner. These investments in the City not only strengthen our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our community but will also equip firefighters with technology that protect our residents. Fire is under control, and fire companies are returning to service. Admiral Street will remain closed for some time. The building is a total loss.

The @CityofProv is expecting a significant snow storm beginning tomorrow into Monday. The City is ready, our equipment is in place and we have the resources needed to keep Providence safe and functioning. Given the anticipated severity and timing of this storm, clean-up efforts are expected to take longer than usual.
