We shared it with @alzassociation in DC and we're still proud: Illinois is leading the nation. Our law requires state-regulated insurance to cover FDA-approved treatments for Alzheimer's and other dementias—a major win for patients and caregivers.

We're leading the country in supporting Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers. Illinois’ first in the nation legislation now requires all state regulated health insurance plans to cover FDA-approved treatments for Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Congratulations to @alzIllinois for winning the #alzforum State Policy Achievement Award! Because of the hard work of our Illinois advocates and staff: ✔️Illinois became the first state to legislatively require coverage of FDA-approved Alzheimer’s treatments and diagnostics in the state’s employee health plan. ✔️The State’s Department of Public Health awarded a $500,000 grant in state funding to improve brain health and increase early detection and diagnosis. ✔️All state regulated health insurance plans are required to cover FDA-approved treatments that slow the progression of Alzheimer’s.

Yesterday our Director of State Affairs @dsolsen2 joined @aarpillinois and @SEIUhciimk for a press conference calling for quality care in IL skilled nursing facilities. Enforcement of minimum staffing standards for nursing homes is scheduled to begin in 2025!

So about last week… Our amazing policy colleagues from IN, KY, NY, NC, SC & GA came to IL to collaborate & share best practices! We even gave them a taste of Chicago (hot dogs 🌭 & pizza 🍕included) with a tour of the city & a special stop at our Home Office 💜 #ENDALZ

THIS JUST IN: SB 3318, which expands access to Alz treatments, passed the House UNANIMOUSLY 👏 We are grateful to advocates for making their voices heard on this bill, as well as lead sponsor @RepMaryGill for building bipartisan support to help us achieve this victory! #ENDALZ

SB 3318- my bill from the Alzheimer's Association has passed both chambers! This bill very simply expands access to drugs that slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Thank you to State Senator Laura Murphy for her partnership and David S. Olsen for his expertise!
