Just watched #ProjectHailMary starring #RyanGosling & #SandraHüller and let me go straight to the point: #PhilLord & #ChristopherMiller delivered one of the most AWE INSPIRING films I’ve ever seen. Everything in this timeless sci-fi makes you feel swiped by AWE. Not only the craftsmanship, or the cinematic accomplishment themselves, every element of the film seems designed to make us awe struck, like we were out in space as well, not just by what you see, but for how small we are in the great scheme of things, while how big we can raise to the occasion as human beings, even when we don’t really want to. The score and the cinematography play a big part in this feeling of constant larger than life experience, but the way Dr. Grace played by Mr. Gosling sees it all and allows us to experience the craziness of it all, allied to the incredible set and visual designs which make everything seem so full of AWE while still believable, are some of the reasons why you finish this film with this almost indescribable feeling of having witnessed greatness at its peak. This film accomplishes so many things that seem impossible to be put together, so many perfect balances that I still can’t believe how exactly they pulled it off. Which adds to the AWE struck feeling. How can a movie be SO FUNNY, but SO DEEP and MOVING at the same time. How is it possible that in the moments it’s in its funniest state, it’s also when it delivers so much layered emotions? How can we connect so deep with a character whose doesn’t even have a face to transmit the emotions you so rampantly feel coming from it? How is it possible that everything feels so high stakes, while simultaneously giving you the most heartfelt & heartwarming moments? #Rocky is the best sidekick I’ve seen in cinema in a long time. Like, in a VERY LONG TIME. How can #SandraHuller portray so unbelievably well a character in which the coldness warms your heart everytime she tries to be beyond any emotions and focused on her mission, which are precisely when we can feel her the most vulnerable? #RyanGosling might have just got his role of a lifetime. His comedic timing went to a whole new level here, and the way he pulls off the heartfelt moments with the same naturalistic way he just made you laugh the second before… I love what he did with Ken in Barbie, but here… I left the session knowing I watched something truly special, and feeling that everyone behind the camera were making it as it was their most special contribution to cinema and to our world. The beautiful messages this film leaves with you will stay with me. There are things much bigger than us for which is worth it the sacrifice. But also things smaller than us which can bring so much meaning. And the word FRIEND in this movie brings back the weight this word has and should have. A real friend are as important as a whole planet. I left the cinema with my heart full. I left the cinema moved. Fulfilled Artistically by the craftsmanship masterclass and a clear, poignant vision from those directors and the whole team behind the camera, showing what we are able to achieve. And as a fulfilled as human, swept by all the simple, timely messages, of the greatness human beings can achieve, in fiction but also in real life. Simply, AWE INSPIRED!
