C'est en tout cas ce qu'affirment les chercheurs de Ledger Donjon ont réussi à perturber une vérification du firmware d’une carte Tangem afin de réinitialiser son code d’accès, définir un nouveau mot de passe contrôlé par l’attaquant puis autoriser des transactions.
L’attaque nécessite toutefois un accès physique à la carte et du matériel spécialisé, mais la faille serait impossible à corriger sur les cartes déjà commercialisées, leur firmware n’étant pas évolutif.

La vulnérabilité touche toutes les cartes Tangem actuellement en circulation et ne peut pas être corrigée, les cartes ne permettant pas de mise à jour du firmware.
En revanche, l'attaque nécessite un accès physique à la carte, un équipement spécialisé d'environ 250 000 $ ainsi qu'une expertise avancée en sécurité matérielle.
