Some time ago, Yuvraj spoke to a few of his friends and told them about a place where computer skills are taught at a very low price, saying it would benefit them too. Their reply was, “We go to a good class where the fee is ₹6,000 per month. We don’t need free classes.

Businesses run in the name of education in India because the audience allows it. What’s free is often undervalued, while expensive things are respected, even if the quality is poor. Price creates perceived value.

While travelling in Andhra, I met a 90-year-old man wandering alone inside the @AgastyaOrg Foundation campus. Turns out, he’s a retired Navy officer named Ramanathan ji, from a small village near Yelagiri, Tamil Nadu. At 90, he wasn’t there for nostalgia he was there to learn. He wanted to understand how Agastya works… so he could build something similar back home. He told me, “There are 14 villages in Yelagiri. Most parents are daily wage labourers. They leave early, come back late their kids are alone all day.” “They think if their child goes to an English-medium school, everything will be fine. But they don’t know… even those schools are broken.” There’s only one government school barely useful. Two private ones expensive, low quality, unchecked. Parents are now taking loans to pay school fees, thinking that’s education. I could see the pain in his eyes. A man who served the Navy now wants to spend the rest of his life serving his village’s children. We spoke and came to one conclusion that community learning spaces like @apnipathshala_ Pathshala might be the real answer. Because education shouldn’t depend on what parents can pay it should depend on what a child can dream.

At LFP Tardeo, this student is sharing feedback on what they learned during the week. It’s heartwarming to see them reflect on their progress and express their learning journey with confidence.
