@clairebubblepop An expat is someone who will never be a citizen. Never get a passport or the benefits of a citizen. So if you work in the US for 10 years but never get a passport - expat. If you become an American citizen - immigrant. Many countries don’t allow immigration.

@terrychristian 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 “I’m begging him for rescue”! No need Sir Kier, quite happy in Dubai thanks.

@hippyygoat These two have no idea what they’re talking about. On almost every issue. It came as a shock to them that Biden was losing his marbles! 🤣
English

@zcserei @MichaelAArouet But this is the problem. The system was designed for a high trust society. My father and his generation would never have not worked if they were able. Women wouldn’t have children if they didn’t have a stable situation. It was meant to be a safety net. Not a way of life.
English

@MichaelAArouet The alternative is a family with three kids living on the streets.
These measures are meant to help people through tough times.
Those who abuse it should be held accountable, but generally the system is good.
You fall sick, your kids won’t starve and you won’t become homeless.

@MadelaineLucyH My son is marrying a lovely Pakistani girl in June. None of her family is coming. Her father and brothers have forbidden contact with her for the past 4 years. She’s loved by us, but integration is a punishable offense. You can’t ’policy’ your way out of it.
English

My best friend is Muslim, and she has been fasting. I’m not a Muslim, and I don’t. We joke about it. She’s going to a white CoE funeral, and calls me to ask what the norms are and what to wear and say. This summer, I’ll be going to a family wedding with her and asking the same.
Because that’s integration.
That’s how you build a society that works.
We don’t all have to be the same.
We just need to have policies that allow for proper mixing and insight.
English

@Eyeswideopen69 Doesn’t have to travel far though. Transport costs get added to base product costs. Or hadn’t you considered that?
English

If we sell the licences we will still import the gas and oil at market prices.
The only thing that’s criminal here, is your stupidity pal.
Ben Graham@BenGrahamUK
Britain sits on billions of barrels of North Sea oil. Instead, we import energy at record prices. This isn’t green policy. It’s economic self sabotage.
English

@rami_hashimi What are you talking about? I was down at Kite Beach today and it was packed. Was nothing like a ghost town.
English

@clairebubblepop Musk paid $11bn in Federal tax in 2021 when he sold Tesla shares. His companies employ 170,000 people - who all pay tax on their income.
English

@PhilipProudfoot The UK Government rips you off at every opportunity.
English

@PhilipProudfoot 50p per litre in the UAE and it’s not subsidized. T also has VAT included.
English

@ClaireWard4EM @Tesco @RachelReevesMP It’s been a while since I worked in the petrol business in the UK - but usually margins were very tight. Companies like Tesco often sold at cost to support their price conscious supermarket pricing. More than half of the cost is Duty and VAT.
English

This is @Tesco Ollerton. At the beginning of the week diesel was 150p, hiked up from the previous week. At lunchtime today it was 154p. This afternoon 156.9p. Its just one of many. So all power to @RachelReevesMP to stop this blatant profiteering.

English

@OperaSocialist 78p a litre in Duty and VAT. And the VAT goes up when the product price goes up.
English

@ZoeJardiniere I thought you were all in favor of people moving to look for a better life? 🤷🏼♂️
English

@NickBuckleyMBE Dubai has almost no oil. We’re not migrants - we don’t get passports or benefits. It’s mainly not rich people. If you break the law here - you get punished and deported. There’s more terrorism in Britain than Dubai. I didn’t ask for your tax payer money and don’t want it.
English

@terrychristian Wrong. The world uses more fossil fuels than it’s ever done. In many parts of Africa and India moving to LPG and away from burning wood and refuse has saved millions of lives. Most wars in the past century have not been about oil. You just make this stuff up.
English

World is developing away from dangerous fossil fuels and most wars in past century have been over oil - with big fossil fuel companies behind them
The Spectator@spectator
'Y'all have to start drilling for your own damn gas!' Energy expert Robert Bryce says Britain is facing a natural gas crisis that is being overlooked as the world focusses on oil and Iran. 'Britain is in danger - really serious danger - of running out of natural gas. This would be a calamity of proportions that are hard to even explain.' @Freddygray31 | @pwrhungry
English

@JaidevJamwal In Western countries often people become citizens and therefore become immigrants. I can’t become a citizen of a country like India - they won’t allow it.
English

@JaidevJamwal Sigh. How often do I have to explain this. An expat doesn’t get citizenship. They only get to stay temporarily. In Dubai there are Indian expats as well as British or French ones. It has zero to do with skin colour.
English

@MumbrianSpinner I stayed in Dubai to look after my daughter’s beloved as he doesn’t have his papers ready. This is us watching the F1 yesterday. I had to sit next to the telly as I couldn’t find my glasses.
