#NetSnippet | On World Environment Day, June 5, the Green Society of India awarded philosopher and author Acharya Prashant the "Most Impactful Environmentalist" honour in recognition of his efforts to promote environmental sustainability through spiritual awareness. The award highlights his leadership in inspiring millions across India toward sustainable living. In his acceptance speech, Acharya Prashant emphasized that the climate crisis is fundamentally rooted in human consciousness. “The glaciers are melting because our minds are burning with greed. Oceans are rising because our desires know no bounds,” he said, stressing that genuine environmental action must begin with an inner transformation. He pointed out the need to address human behaviours that drive environmental degradation. “Until we address the pollution within — the inner chaos, violence, and apathy — external efforts will be insufficient,” he remarked. Acharya Prashant also critiqued the focus on environmental data metrics without acknowledging human responsibility. “We talk about the Air Quality Index but never the ‘Human Quality,’” he noted. To respond to the climate emergency, he launched “Operation 2030,” a campaign aimed at educating India’s youth and supporting the UN goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C by 2030. The initiative promotes ecological awareness and collective responsibility. Drawing on Vedantic philosophy, Buddhism, existentialism, and Western thought, Acharya Prashant’s teachings have influenced over 100,000 participants through his Bhagavad Gita Teaching Program and students at institutions such as UC Berkeley, Bard College, IITs, IIMs, IISc, and AIIMS. Concluding his address, he urged urgent action: “2030 is no longer a policy target; it is a planetary lifeline. To win this race, we need a million mutinies — in thought, consumption, and lifestyle. Change must begin within each individual.” As World Environment Day is observed, Acharya Prashant’s message highlights the need for inner transformation alongside external environmental efforts. @Advait_Prashant #WorldEnvironmentDay #philosopher #author #AcharyaPrashant #Award #MostImpactfulEnvironmentalist #recognition #NortheastToday
