HOPE: Biggest plot twist of Cannes so far is Na Hong-jin landing a competition slot to launch a massive, absurd, sense-scrambling, often convincing bid for sci-fi action blockbuster dominance. I had so, so, so many questions but also a big, stupid grin on my face for much of it.

HOPE rules! A Spielbergian scifi action thriller via Korean dark comedy that starts with an hour long action scene that leads to a delightful creature feature. A bit War of the Worlds, Aliens, & Predator. Jung Ho-yeon has one of the great character intros of all time. A blast!
