Even though that is what they should do, i doubt they would ever do that, as classing it as a benefit, means they have more control over it.

The law needs to be changed to declassify a Pension as a benefit. I find it grotesque that having paid into a system all your working life that it’s deemed as a handout rather than something you deserve for working hard all your life. Benefits are for people that don’t work Pensions are for people who worked hard & earned their pension. A pension is not a benefit.

@moonrakermonty I have long thought that the State pension should be the same as the minimum wage income. In addition, pensioner's on £25,000 a year or less should pay no tax.

@punter05 MP,s have had generous pay rises so their pensions have gone up generously too, the rest of us plebs are not real people & tories & labour alike hate us for getting anything. 2007 labour put it in law that the pension is a benefit, which shud never have been accepted!
