I did not realize this series took the premise and plot of Day 5 by Rooster Teeth almost exactly.

@jared_hartless @FreeRosedark It is good! Please don't let their negativity effect that at the least, the author has a buncha other works too if it's superhero stuff isn't your thing, like supernatural, biopunk, crime, and sci-fi et.

@FreeRosedark Maybe I might be more inclined to do so if anybody else was recommending it, but since it's you, I don't think I want to. That's the problem with coming off as miserable and pretentious about the media you consume, it's off-putting to others.

I'm kind of amazed at the sheer densty of slop this month has produced. Like we're reaching critical mass, we're headed towards a slop singularity.

@mediapilled That’s not to say it still isn’t good! It still has plenty of good aspects and the fandoms has largely chilled out and there’s still parts that are really great. Plus he’s written a lot more and is currently writing a Sci-Fi space story that from what I’ve heard is great!

@mediapilled It’s a pretty long story honestly, there’s multiple things. The short version is that Worm was Wildbow’s first work and therefore he made missteps in terms of representation, handling fandom, problematic topics etc. while also juggling a fandom that was harsh and uncharitable.

@FreeRosedark I mean I dislike many things. I can also dislike something without considering it slop. Pale wasn't my thing. I know it's good- it is a good story to me. But I don't like it. It's uninteresting to me. I liked Pact more. I don't make negativity a defining trait basically.

It's well done imo. It's one of her defining moments that showcase who she is as a character.

@meteotek @dtomquick I do think one of the reasons they did this was they realized that the WoL is like, stupidly overpowered. I still dislike it and consider it soft canon. I like more they’re focusing on battles we can’t win with our power and Azem’s crystal in Evercold to get around it.

@dtomquick Yeah I don't really like the way ShB and up have sorta demystified the WoL's accomplishments in canon by making Trusts and the Azem stone a thing that's canonically being used in every dungeon and fight.

I've mentioned elsewhere, but I actually think this is the CANON explanation for what makes the WoL so terrifying. Fighting them is like fighting a legion of heroes unto themselves, and that's without adding in any fellow adventurers/magical echoes.

@Hey1tsNate @dtomquick It makes stuff like the Knights of the Round fight, like stupidly cool. The WoL took on like 14 full power primals solo at once.

@dtomquick IIRC, if their isn't a cutscene of you bringing other people into battle you're actually doing Raids/Dungeons/Trials solo

FUN FACT : My character is a Hyur with white hair and I main warrior and I've always loved the ARR armour. I always thought the WoD is auto generated by the game to copy our character model but just darker color. Imagine my surprise recently to learn that isn't the case...

@Nasafitra The sole reason I haven’t put 1000’s of hours into Wilds is because I just don’t have that time or energy to do that anymore. 10/10 game, even more when they added the Handler costume.

Being somebody that immensely loves and enjoys both World and Wilds is so annoying sometimes 😭 Cuz many people that like Wilds hate World And many people that like World hate Wilds And I'm stuck in between unable to agree or disagree with either side in most conversations 🫠

@countxrcultvre @GunnerDobbins Gone was such a good series, the one part when a buncha older kids break in and sew a little girls mouth shut was always horrifying to me. Same with the girl forced into cannibalism or the worms that ate you alive.

@dummyings @GunnerDobbins YES! I googled it one day and stumbled upon his Wikipedia page and it was literally the first thing they mentioned lmao. Also omg I always am so shocked when ppl know Gone bc I never find ppl who know of it. We love a power couple who write traumatizing kids fiction together.

Fun Fact: The author did a blog post following the series's VERY dark and depressing ending after a lot of readers were traumatized by the kid characters all either dying or having PTSD and in response, this based lady said: "Lol, War is war keep crying"
