OK friends...so after looking at the results from that women's 10,000m final.. Here's what I THINK... Weini Kelati is for sure going to Olympics because she entered the day with the Olympic standard and just won in 31:41.07 🔒 Parker Valby finished second in 31:41.553, which should be enough to boost her ranking to 1213 points. That should be good enough to get her within the rankings quota to make the Olympic team for Paris. Karissa Schweizer ran 31:41.557 for third place, which should boost her ranking to 1209 and right behind Valby in the rankings. She should be good as well. This will all depend on how many athletes scratch in the coming days and any final results from other country's national championships. A cursory look at people in the rankings who are scratching includes: Alicia Monson (out for the season due to injury); Jess Warner Judd (ended her season); Sarah Lahti (underwent hamstring surgery); Samantha Harrison (likely may not get picked based off Team GB's selection policy); Veerle Bakker (may not be named to the Dutch team because she hasn't have their national standard.) We could have some other scratches. Not sure what Eilish McColgan's status is going to be for Paris. It won't be official until the World Rankings and national championships are finalized on July 7th – but I think Team USA is sending the top three to Paris.
