Software engineers, what's your plan when AI develops better taste & architectural/systems knowledge than you in next 3-4 years?

Outside a restaurant, I see a young man in cook's clothing squatting, scrolling his phone. Not too long ago, it would have been a cigarette break instead of a phone break Why is this stuff not heavily controlled? It is retinal fentanyl on tap. Our society is sick. Our children!

@WatakoLab Very nice work. Impressive frequency and latency. What detector do you use for the ball? We do a similar algorithm with YOLOv8 and ZED. We could track the 3D position of colored tennis balls just like this.

@gurgle_io No. I was testing backflips. But actually I didn't even realize that the props could be used like that. You are a genius

@facontidavide It is 2.3 million points updated at 30Hz and we have run 3 of those simultaneously to compare logged sensors. We'll test 100 million but the important technical element is that it's using camera facing (fragment shader) "point sprites". Just little squares, scaled, and colors.

Do you need to visualize humongously big pointclouds and your fancy Visualization is choking with it? I want to talk with you.

@duncancalvert Good to hear. I will start soon implementing the 3D rendering pipeline of #PlotJuggler 4 and I want to benchmark it against the most demanding use cases.

@facontidavide Fu*king Ouster OS1 hits 1Gbits at 128 Planes and highest resolution. Good benchmark. Also, it reaches about 85°C when running, don't touch it.

It's incredible how much happier I am as a human being because I have a laptop that is running arch Linux. It's so stupid why am I like this? Yet it matters

If you are using the earth as a reference frame, the moon is actually doing a close flyby of Artemis II.

@Jonath4nH this sort of disconnected way doesn't work. I have to understand everything wholly, its the only way I can tell which direction is worth going. Anything I do without understanding is a debt that I must pay 4 times over

It's remarkable how much of my work is completely automated w/ AI, and yet, I still am necessary. The amount of time I personally have to spend working just isn't going down. Instead, the leverage of my own time is going up. Every second I spend not working becomes more painful

@andrewkaluz everything in a computer is represented by text at some level. if you master the text, at the very least understand it, then your power increases by quite a lot

@yacineMTB @plasmarob I never attempted the basic and never finished anything until I was like 17. Then I started achieving the advanced more and more. Truth to this

something i learned from my wife, who recently learned how to sew: do not do beginner projects. if what you want to make is difficult to make, you should just try to make it. don't do a slow learning process. don't start with the basics. start with the advanced

@TeslaPatriot @radbackwards You are aggressive but kind of have a point. The light seems alright but I never worked under one. Point lights are the worst. I would expect this creates decent shadowing. Sky lights are the best.
