BREAKING: 🇮🇷🇯🇵 Iran and Japan close to agreement on Hormuz transit Iran has begun negotiating individually with each country regarding the Strait of Hormuz and will likely charge a hefty fee. Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, said in an interview to Kyodo News that Iran is preparing to escort Japanese tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. If Iran starts charging around 10% per tanker, according to some reports, the country will collect $800 billion annually.

my wife and i paid a decent amount for our condo in a neighbourhood right next to downtown Vancouver; it didn’t cost what it did because of the building or the unit, it cost what it did because it comes with *proportional ownership of some very valuable land*. that’s the reason.

the outright ownership of land in residential property in America worked perfectly for centuries because land was so plentiful. now it isn’t. this is why shitty houses in desirable areas are so expensive: you buy the land, not just the house on it, and it is yours, full stop.

the biggest reason that young Chinese people - even with their pricey markets in major cities - can own more readily than young Americans is that China does not have fee simple property rights. you do not own the land outright when you buy. you own the right to use it.
