'Don't build bicycle paths', they said. 'Cycling will never work here', they said. 'This is London, not Amsterdam', they said. ↗️ 43% increase in cycling since 2019 📈 1.5 million bike trips per day 🚲 From niche to mainstream (🎞️ of London🇬🇧 by @euklidiadas)

On this day in 1974, bollards were installed in De Beauvoir, Hackney, to manage traffic and prevent danger from passing vehicles. All this happened before the term "low traffic neighbourhood" was invented. Definitely one of my favourite areas in London, and a dream for cycling

1890s, Seapoint The steam locomotive exhales plumes of white along the curving sea wall, ready to meet the restless tide. A gentleman rests in quiet reverie, horse waiting patiently. Distant terraces climb toward Dún Laoghaire. Lapping waves, in time whisper to shore. 📷 NLI

Dr. John Legge, emergency medicine consultant at St. Vincent’s, writing in today’s @IrishTimes about the flawed policy of mandatory hi-vis for vulnerable road users. “It seems that any measure to improve road safety but which may inconvenience drivers cannot be considered.”

Most broadcasters won’t say this: our roads are not fair, and they’re not neutral. Some people are far more vulnerable than others. Credit to Kieran Cuddihy for saying it on @rteliveline this week. Our laws, road design, and enforcement must reflect that simple truth.

Please take 2 min today (closes tomorrow) to support the fantastic Cabinteely Greenway by completing the public consultation below. A small group of vocal opposers (why?!) seem to have a lot of time on their hands, so it's critical we all support it. 🙏 dlrcoco.citizenspace.com/infrastructure…

Government have spent billions through #VisionZero & have failed to do the basics Automatic Cameras ❌ Reduce urban road speeds ❌ Fix the GDPR statistics issue ❌ Expand the Garda RPU ❌ Introduce driver CPD courses ❌ Update DMURS ❌ It’s a political choice!!

Cargo heaven at #ScoilLorcáin! We’re seeing big changes in behaviour in Dlr. People feel safe cycling in segregated lanes. More bikes = less traffic congestion. Watch this space. #CMR @dlrcc

🚗 The illusion of a large parking lot: While the trip to a suburban mall might actually be longer than to a restaurant downtown, the layout of the parking lot tricks us: the store entrance is visible, making the distance seem shorter. (🎞️ by @streetcraft__)

Following a wet and windy Saturday, conditions have greatly improved across Ireland on Sunday afternoon with widespread sunshine developing in many parts. After a largely dry ten-day spell, heavy rain affected much of the country from Saturday through to Sunday morning. Johnstown Castle in Wexford recorded 37.2 mm of rain, with high totals also reported at Roches Point, Cork (32.5 mm), Cork Airport (31 mm), Valentia, Kerry (28.6 mm) and Mullingar, Westmeath (22.2 mm). Some strong winds were also reported with Malin Head in Donegal recording a 83 km/h gust at 5.00am on Sunday. weatheire.com/news/climate/2…

Joined Residents this morning 🌄 protesting for a safe Liveable Street. They have had enough of dangerous traffic and HGV'S on their residential street. Agreesive frustrated drivers, driving on the pavement, beeping, shouting. It us simply not designed for this traffic and it's intolerable for people living and working here. They have been campaigning for years and want a trial filtered permeability. #liveablestreet #streetsforpeople #safestreets #slowdown
