@gundam_news105 really makes me wish CCA got this same treatment of 3 whole movies, but tomino (and the studio) both wanted it to be one shot. oh well, maybe they'll remake CCA in 40 years

@gundam_news105 i say this with the highest praise possible, the character complexity displayed in the movie's short runtime matches what my favorite anime (86) took 24 episodes to do. it's truly amazing. something about the tight pacing still feels so much more fleshed out than CCA weirdly

If you weren’t aware, Hathaway’s Flash is a story I’m deeply and emotionally attached to. It’s my favorite piece of media, both the films and novels. It’s a story I feel I know rather intimately because Hathaway is something of a comfort character to me. I see a lot of myself and my own experiences in him. Director Shukou Murase has been my favorite director for many years, so my perspective is definitely more bias than most. The Witch of Circe is everything I praised about the first film, just continuing the story. It’s a dense socio-political character drama about broken people, wrapped in Yoshiyuki Tomino’s verbose dialogue and Murase’s trippy visuals, ambient darkness and western style of direction. He expertly nails Hathaway’s complex psychology. He’s not a hero. He’s a victim of war trauma, struggling to fulfill the self-penance he’s placed upon himself as Mafty Navue Erin. I will do a more in-depth review after I watch it like 20 more times. I do think the movie is more fun if you’ve read the novels and seeing the unique way Murase plays things out on screen.

@MON0EYE kinda crazy how now what was a really good movie (hathaway 1) now just feels like just a half-decent and extremely fast paced buildup compared to what is the greatest gundam movie thus far (hathaway 2)
