What’s most troubling is that this didn’t come out of nowhere. Since October 7, we’ve seen a huge uptick in violence in the West Bank, by extremists often under the cover of soldiers like this one wearing “Messiah” tags on his uniform and helmet - a clear sign of the dangerous currents that have seeped into the ranks. These army tags are just one symptom.
