I love Duke, but these recent teams have been mentally weak in big moments.

Purdue leads 38-31 at halftime. The Boilermakers went 7/14 from 3-point range while Arizona was 1/6. Harris, Mayer, Jacobsen were huge off the bench as the Boilers flexed their depth. Braden Smith: "Our bench showed up. It's been unbelievable. They've brought energy."

Welcome to Elite Eight Saturday! In less than half an hour, #Purdue will take on Arizona for a trip to the Final Four. These teams have each experienced more than their share of March heartbreak. My preview: journalgazette.net/sports/college…

@DylanSinn Arizona, Michigan and Duke have been the three best teams all season, and they have one thing in common: Plenty of length. Tough to get easy baskets against those teams. Seeing it play out now with Purdue.

Danger time here for Purdue. Not getting any stops and now Trey Kaufman-Renn has picked up his second foul. Arizona is just a better version of Texas. Shotmakers that crash the glass with awesome physicality.

@tomcolicchio I'm a Duke fan, but I just respect that you pay attention to the Duke-UNC rivalry. I think it's really cool.

This ice dance ⛸️ judging bias controversy is even worse than I thought at first glance The French 🇫🇷 team's second highest score (and the USA's lowest score by far) came from the French judge USA's 🇺🇸 highest score --> the USA judge Canada's 🇨🇦 highest score --> the Canadian judge Italy's 🇮🇹 highest score --> the Italian judge Spain's 🇪🇸 highest score --> the Spanish judge I mean, what are we doing here???

Yes, Puerto Rico is part of the U.S. But there also are 1 million Puerto Ricans in Florida and 5 million more in the Northeast. I grew up in a neighborhood w/ a population that's about a quarter Puerto Rican. Tonight's halftime show was American, friends. Just a different kind.

@mzemek I agree. I think his Finals result exceeded his expectations and now gives him even more determination to keep going. I know Alcaraz is the champion, but this was a heck of a tournament for Djokovic, relative to expectations and especially considering his results in 2025.

The other obvious limitation facing Djokovic: His legs won't get younger or faster. However, I think this tournament will convince him he can still chase down another major in 2027 if he doesn't get one in 2026.
Matt Zemek@mzemek

Big-picture: Djokovic knows that if he can get a situation in which he doesn't have to beat Sinner and Alcaraz back to back, he can still win 25. That's going to fuel him. Imagine if Dimitrov hadn't retired last summer at SW19. Just needs that one ounce of fortune.

@mzemek As clutch and amazing as Djokovic has been, I think beating Sinner and Alcaraz back-to-back in the same Grand Slam Tournament is the toughest feat in all sports. Not sure anyone, including Djokovic at his current age, can conquer that mountain. At least right now.

That fifth set might well be the clutchest set of Novak Djokovic's career. Saved all 8 break points he faced. Converted the 1 break point he had. Held from 15-40 in his first service game. Held from 15-40 in his second service game. Held from 0-40 in his fourth service game. Served out the match at deuce after missing out on two match points.

What an incredible tennis semifinal match between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner. The old guard outlasts the new, as Novak was just so clutch and focused on the biggest points. Fantastic battle. #AusOpen2026

@mzemek I was asleep sadly for the first semifinals, but I've watched every bit of this Djokovic-Sinner match. It's been so awesome and memorable seeing the old guard holding his own against the new.

They had him on the ground. Six agents pinned him down. They disarmed him. They removed his gun from its holster. And THEN they shot him. Ten times. To repeat. AFTER they pinned him to the ground, and AFTER they disarmed him, they shot him. Ten times. They murdered him.

On location at Hard Rock Stadium for @JGfortwayne. The media bus on the way here got repeatedly mistaken for the team buses, with people hanging out the on the way highway taking pictures. Of course, we are the most important people here, I think we can all agree.

Brutal loss for the Bills and a fan base that has seen its fair share of gutting losses. Josh Allen was far from prefect, but he made two big throws late in OT that his receivers should have come up with.

@awaytoworthy It’s fun for all of us to be hurt, yet also so proud. Panthers played really well and showed such resilience. A bright future, despite the loss.

@DrPatrickGraham I agree. Panthers were playing great when they were pressuring Stafford and paying aggressive. Then, during the most important defensive possession of the season, the defense played soft and timid.
