@MrPhresh225 @markrobinsonNC If they gave a warning, it was improper. They did not deliver it according to their own rules. Second, discretion should be used. The young man was flexing to teammates, not other teams, because he just broke a 19 year old record. A young person can’t even express joy for that?

@markrobinsonNC What this post isn’t telling you is that he was warned once already during the meet not to do that and he did it again anyway. That’s why he was disqualified.

@DrPatrickGraham As mentioned, It is all about perception. If the refs saw it as flexing toward the other team that's what matters when it came down to their warning.

@RecruitBoss There were several other athletes during the whole week that had more demonstrative celebrations and received no warning or disqualification. These are facts. Rules must be applied equally and consistently. Sometimes discretion must be used, like when a record is broken.

@RecruitBoss I was there. He did not flex toward the other team. He wasn’t considering them at all. He flexed and said “yeah” repeatedly because he just broke a record that had been in place for 19 years. The five was toward his teammates and coach left of the camera for five championships.
