@AustinJtodd SM2 flopped so hard that we're getting a 3rd year of support that was not in the initial plans. We're getting 4th DoW just for funzies. Rogue Trader, Mechanicus, Darktide, Boltgun etc. are all flops that saw not support and/or sequels because of their complete and utter failure.
@twyrewolf Well then there is no problem. You're a fan of specific parts and that's totally alright. Imo, you shouldn't proclaim how you're a fan of art, lore, characters, music and everything else minus gameplay and saying "I'm a fan of xyz game" should suffice.
@dv_sunday Nah. I’m a fan of specific parts of the game. Acting like a fan of The whole thing from that would be silly (also as a point of correction, I was interested in the designs/lore before playing, and playing the game itself had very little impact on that)
@redline3636@RANK10YGO bad faith. Saying "simple as" while deciding not to expand on it when prompted, then yea, you are refusing to take part in a discussion.
@dv_sunday@RANK10YGO "It's clear you don't plan on holding a normal discussion" and half of your arguments is being embarrassingly obtuse to make said discussion way more difficult than it should be
@redline3636@RANK10YGO Well, maybe if you decided to actually engage with the said discussion instead of giving an unrelated movie "parallel" (which is completely missing the point) and then calling playthrough a "supplementary material" (without explaining why), yea, I'd say you are arguing in (1/2)
@twyrewolf what you're describing is a short brush with the game. If, after those 15 minutes, you decided to seek out full playthrough, looked up lore, read about the game etc. I'd say you are a Bloodborne fan.
@dv_sunday You can be a fan of the story or the visuals without inherently being a fan of the game. Like I LOVE Bloodbone’s creature design and lore, but I’ve played it once for 15 minutes on a friend’s couch. Calling myself a bloodborne fan would be disingenuous.
@redline3636@RANK10YGO Idk how watching a whole game is "supplementary material" on the same level as reading a review but it clear you don't plan on holding a normal discussion.
@dv_sunday@RANK10YGO Actually it's a really good example if you're taking in supplementary material instead of the intended experience you're not a fan, simple as
Roblox has hit back at the UK's planned social media ban for under-16s, warning against "outright bans"
"We think that platforms like ours play an incredibly important role in kids' lives"
@Beans797901@RANK10YGO I agree 100%. I still haven't seen a single valid argument against playthrough watchers being qualified to call themselves fans.
@dv_sunday@RANK10YGO You can. People are just gatekeeping to make them feel like they have something others don’t. It’s pathetic and their opinions aren’t valid
@SuperAdaptation@RANK10YGO So, by your definition, you can't be, let's say, a sports fan because you don't participate yourself in the said sport.
Let me ask you this: Do you think that people who pirate a game but have an experience of playing it qualify as fans?
@dv_sunday@RANK10YGO Liking something doesnt mean you are a fan, the word itself comes from fanatic which means obsessed which means just watching someone else play it on yt shouldnt satisfy you you should do it properly
@redline3636@RANK10YGO it's not even remotely close. When watching playthrough, you're still witnessing the whole aspect of the game minus physically playing, and in your example, you're missing the whole of the said movie. reading a review of the game would be the same as reading a review of the movie
@dv_sunday@RANK10YGO Imagine calling yourself a movie buff but all you take in is reviews and wiki articles instead of actually watching movies, it's the same difference
@sansaenjoyer@BhootyXyz@RANK10YGO I mean, it does. It goes to show with what type of person I'm having a "discussion" with and that it was pointless to respond to you to beging with.
