Scoop from @CBSNews: Hotel surveillance footage shows the suspected gunman leaving his 10th floor room at the Washington Hilton carrying guns packed inside a black bag, per law enforcement officials. He used an interior stairwell to run down about 10 flights, bypassing heavily monitored public areas of the hotel, @NicoleSganga reports. The suspect emerged onto the terrace level — same level as White House Correspondents Association red carpet — just yards from an access point to the ballroom where Trump and his top aides were. He broke into a sprint.  US Secret Service Uniformed Division officers at WHCA dinner confronted and tackled Cole Allen moments later. More here: cbsnews.com/live-updates/t…

A Daily Beast editor had the hotel room next door to the alleged WHCD attacker. “How on earth could someone with a disassembled long gun check into a room at a hotel where the president was going to speak? I can answer that: Nobody even looked at my luggage on Friday afternoon. Worse, my colleague arrived on Saturday at 5 p.m. Nobody looked at his luggage either: No magnometers, no hand checks, no I.D. checks. Nothing.” thedailybeast.com/i-slept-next-t…

I'm so tired of hearing this isn’t a Democratic Party problem. The co-chair of the Dems CD next to mine is a fan of his Luigi Mangione T-shirt. He wears it to party events. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Thrill to violence has been cultivated on the left. Beyond dispute.

@JoshPateCFB Of the teams with weather phenomena as a nickname or mascot, none of them will win their conference. For reference: Alabama (Tide), Miami (Hurricane), Iowa State (Tornado), Tulane (Wave), Hawaii (Rainbow) & Tulsa (Hurricane). If I’m missing any, include them, too. Lebanon, TN.

Food inflation is set to accelerate in the US: Average inflation for food and beverage companies surged +7.9% YoY in March, the biggest jump in at least 12 months. This is up +373 basis points from +4.2% in February. The largest jump was recorded in tomatoes at +102% YoY, vegetables at +90%, and diesel at +88%. This was largely driven by higher fuel costs, meaning the full impact of rising fertilizer and plastics prices has not yet been reflected. Meanwhile, urea prices, the world's most widely used nitrogen fertilizer, have doubled since February, to ~$900 per metric ton, the highest since the 2022. Fertilizer costs are rapidly rising for farmers and will eventually translate into higher wholesale food prices before landing on grocery store shelves. Food inflation is set to accelerate.

Can confirm the manifesto in NY POST is accurate and specifically the part about targets, an FBI source tells me @NewsNation The alleged gunman said admin officials "(not including Mr. Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest." He said that Secret Service "are targets only if necessary, and to be incapacitated non-lethally if possible." He added "Hotel Security: not targets if at all possible (aka unless they shoot at me)." "Capitol Police: same as Hotel Security, National Guard: same as Hotel Security, Hotel Employees: not targets at all, Guests: not targets at all." He added: "In order to minimize casualties I will also be using buckshot rather than slugs (less penetration through walls)" The source didn't share copy, but NY POST obtained a copy.

Fox is told the House Oversight Committee has requested a briefing from the Secret Service. Unclear when Fox has also inquired on both sides of the Capitol if there will he a special panel or task force set up to probe this incident.  The House created a special panel to investigate the Butler, Pennsylvania assassination attempt in 2024

Cole Allen, the gunman from last night’s WH Correspondents Dinner, maintained an active online presence, especially on the leftwing social media platform Bluesky where he went by the handle ColdForce.bsky.social with multiple references violence and guns. In one post he calls President Trump the Antichrist. In another he recommends buying guns in reaction to Trump’s DOJ exploring ways to ban firearm purchases from transgenders. In one post he calls Trump a sociopathic mob boss and in another referred to him as a traitor with known connections to Putin, repeating a favorite leftwing Russian Hoax talking point. He also attacks JD Vance for advocating an end to America’s funding the war in Ukraine and for his criticisms of the Pope. He seems pretty fixated on Ukraine more generally. He also frequently interacts with Will Stancil’s Bluesky account, among others.

For all the talk about the role of media and their “importance” in a free society I have not seen one person who identifies as a journalist ask about the impact Democrats refusal to fund the Department of Homeland Security had on their precious dinner - nor about the continued targeting of conservatives by leftists

NEWS: new info on the WHCD shooting suspect, Cole Allen, from the White House. I'll be talking with President Trump about all of this in 30 minutes on @SundayBriefFNC The suspect’s written manifesto clearly stated he wanted to target administration officials. He also had a ton of anti-Trump and anti-Christian rhetoric on his social media accounts. ALLEN's brother had notified New London PD (CT) of ALLEN's alleged manifesto he had sent to his family members prior to the incident.   Secret Service and Montgomery County Police interviewed Avriana Allen, ALLEN’s sister, at their residence in Rockville, MD. The following highlights from the interview: •Allen said her brother had a tendency to make radical statements and his rhetoric constantly referenced a plan to do “something” to fix the issues with today’s world. •Confirmed ALLEN purchased two handguns and a shotgun from Cap Tactical Firearms and kept them stored at their parent’s home and that their parents were unaware that ALLEN was keeping the firearms in the home. •ALLEN would regularly go to the shooting range to train with his firearms •ALLEN was part of a group called ‘The Wide Awakes’ •ALLEN attended a ‘No Kings’ protest in California at some point
