"I’m standing here in front of you guys because of a creative writing professor who read something I wrote... he said, ‘I think you should go to Hollywood and write screenplays.' Literally said that to me."

Oscar-winner Ryan Coogler says he hopes #Sinners might someday be taught in film curriculums, recalling how a college writing professor pushed him to become a screenwriter. “I’m not smart enough to teach college. I have so much respect for professors.”

I saw this quote for the first time yesterday: “Someone dies in combat. At Brigade level, he’s a social security number and a status that gets tracked to Landstuhl. At Div, he’s a storyboard. At Corps, he’s a statistic. At Platoon and Company, he’s a gaping wound in the soul of 100 men. To his family, it’s the end of the world." -Jim Gourley

Rev. Jesse Jackson has died at 84. No tweet could do justice to such a large and consequential life. His 1988 speech to the Democratic National Convention is easily one of the most remarkable — and personal — political addresses you’ll ever hear.

You can remove a flag, as at Stonewall; you can try to ignore history, as in Philadelphia; you can even try to humiliate people, as with racist tweets; but you can't erase people's innate human dignity. It can withstand anything. It is inalienable. nytimes.com/2026/02/10/us/…

BREAKING: Georgia Fort’s 17-year-old daughter and husband spoke out today at a press conference, calling for her immediate release after she was detained by federal agents this morning. “My mom is being arrested for documenting what happened at City Church. And this is wrong. This goes against her First Amendment right as a journalist. And it’s being challenged today. She is not a protester. She is not an activist. She is a mom working to provide for her children through the only way she knows how, documenting and sharing stories of the community and the truth of what’s happening here every day in our state.” Fort is an independent journalist who has spent years reporting on issues impacting Minnesota communities. Her family says she was doing her job. Nothing more. They are demanding accountability and her immediate release. 📸: @andrewmercado
