@timpetri @vercel @cramforce @rauchg We updated the sampler to respect the inbound decision. However, it still has to respect the configured sampling rate on top of it. This way, if you were to sample 100% then we'd always follow the inbound decision. Could you try again?

Thanks for replying! This I already know, and I've been able to successfully propagate context to further downstream services. My issue is around incoming request propagation in nextjs. The docs claim it works but that's what I'm observing. In our case, DatadogRum attaches tracecontext headers to all requests client-side but the default spans created by the nextjs framework (see docs [0] for list, but canonical would be the [http.method] [next.route]) fail to make use of the incoming trace context. Am I missing something or should the @vercel opentelemetry library not accept and propagate tracecontext coming from the frontend for the purposes of distributed tracing? @cramforce @rauchg

@timpetri @vercel @cramforce @rauchg Got it. I'll check. It's possible that the inbound trace context conflicts with the sampling decisions that we are making which would override the inbound context. Most likely can be reconciled. I'll follow-up.

@ccccjjjjeeee The main reasons that library exists are (1) zero config for Vercel log/otel drains, (2) support for Edge runtime, (3) some performance considerations.

On the other hand, I don't really understand the the vercel/otel library. Not having to do config is neat in theory, but the abstraction starts leaking as soon as you want to do anything at all.

Then `instrumentationHook` setting in next.config is one of the best DX improvements in recent memory. Easiest OTel setup in the JS ecosystem. Great job from the @nextjs team!

@sebmarkbage It'd be very helpful if React called `.return()` on the embedded iterators at the end of processing to complete the dangling iterators.

OMG, it's happening: app history (github.com/WICG/app-histo…) controlling the loading spinner and stop button. Browser loading spinner support for your single-page app navigations! Try it out for yourself in latest Chrome Canary! Huge kudos to Nate Chapin for the implementation!!

Ellington lifted him into the hatch--and into freedom. Convict No. B-173 was named Samuel Pisar. He became an American citizen, a successful lawyer. His stepson, Tony Blinken (@ABlinken), will become America's next Secretary of State. God Bless America! God Bless America!

Some personal news: Principal Engineer (Manager)!! I can't believe I've made this far. I am incredibly thankful. I usually don't talk too much about this here, but growing up as a poor kid in Brazil, I couldn't even imagine in my wildest dreams to be where I am.
