male characters can be horribly written & yet ppl will praise them like they’re a god & yet woman characters can be insanely well written & still get no recognition & that’s not even the worst of it. that’s only on a good day, if they’re not being ignored they’re being hated on

@mustelafuroyuya OMG THANK U!! shinobu was one of the characters i was thinking of.. she’s SO well written yet she gets hated on for no reason. they don’t see the depth of her character & say she’s not worthy of being a hashira since she’s “weak” or she’s “rude/fake”. WHICH NONE OF IT IS TRUE?

Like Shinobu's character is PEAK but people always mock her for being the weakest hashira as if it's her only aspect, when people see a female character with depth, they'll always reduce her to just one characteristic, while making up things to give bland male characters depth.

@dykeimiko Yeah totally agree, I think it’s also cause people are very male centered(?) so some people see women characters as a threat if they are heavily parasocial with the character. There’s a lot of gorgeous woman characters that are well written but they aren’t recognized more tbh

@broken__villain it’s misogyny more than anything else imo. like objectively there r women characters who r way more attractive than male characters but ppl wont bat an eyelid or reduce them simply to their looks meanwhile when a male character is attractive they care abt their looks & character

@dykeimiko It’s usually cause the male character is attractive and nothing else but women characters can be well written and people can’t stand them because they are “annoying”. It usually comes down to misogyny/attractive characters can do no wrong cause they simply are hot

@dykeimiko My favourite part is when the male character has done questionable things and gets cuddled or understood into a morally gray character trope, but the female character that has done way less is hated or found annoying. In short, female characters can't be complex but guys can be.
