If Bruce was abusive damian would not get away with assaulting his father.🤷♂️...the most recent thing with Jason was actually Zur-en Arr, not Bruce...the throat attack was to prevent him from killing the POS that is the Joker, keeping to his code...he never actually shot Jason to my knowledge. I am pretty sure each of Nightwing's sidekicks became supervillains, barring Damian...and damian is one bad day away from supervillainy.

Batman is an abusive father! He can work with other anti-heroes, but he shoots jason,brainwashes him, beats him to death, slits his throat and then escapes all consequences.If nightwing fans think this is not abusive,I hope DC can let nightwing do the same thing to his sidekick🙏

Jason Todd fans pushing the "abusive Batdad" narrative got them a few hit tweets but it really damaged his sale in the long run. Same with Nightwing. He's the best he's ever been in years but i'm not loving how Gotham War and H2sh pushed him against Bruce at all

i unironically like how bitter & sarcastic bruce is in these scenes. the alfred line is very obviously a joke, but it gives such a nice glimpse into the mind of someone stressed & teetering on the brink of mental decline, because a mental state like that is never pretty (1/12)

@protobertx @Azur_Vagary His apology is a non-apology that mostly is just him giving excuses for still being a bad parent even after 4-5 years of raising Damian. Bruce doesn't even adress what he did in issue 6.

@dyonisia8 I’ve gone back and forth between liking and disliking how much Fraction is using the Alfred Jiminy Cricket thing for Bruce. That convo at the start of the issue could’ve paid off really nice when he actually talks to Damian, but it just didn’t at all which is so odd

And what was the point of this internal battle for Bruce? Why not have a resolution with Damian that involved Bruce talking to him about this impossible infallibility they strive for, instead of randomly making Damian 11 years old again feeling like his father doesn’t want him?

Also no mention of their actual fight (Damian calling him ‘father’ + Bruce reacting harshly) but instead we see Damian meekly calling him ‘sir’ throughout the issue Damian’s sudden, heavy insecurities here aren’t just OOC, they feel totally unwarranted from this small of a fight

@GothAlGhul This part of the run was just very clunky, showed Fraction having a poor grasp of Damian's character and "recent" history and overall gave me little confidence in him writing Bruce and Damian

@GothAlGhul (...) and not giving Damian a good example to show how to handle failure. Sure, he cheered him up a little, but he evaded actually adressing the fight that they had.
It's still fairly early run, so maybe Bruce not quite getting it yet is the point but I don't know.

I honestly saw it as a way to placate Damian after all that happened. Like u know that oversweet talk where ppl do it to make others feel like special and they do it without thought? Yea albeit this dialogue is a very crude dialogue but at least it can be interpreted that way.

Bruce does not look at Damian as his only child. The nepotism thing has never existed (if anything it’s been in Dicks favor), I know this panel now exists; understand it’s not accurate. Bruce views dick, Jason, Tim and Cass as his children

Also the article clearly states that Bruce asked everyone to move in with him into the new manor in the previous run, not now.
He lost Wayne Manor a while ago and it's currently owned by the enemy.

But agreed. We have been here so many times. Did we really need a speedrun of the same old arc "for new readers" as some defend this as? They don't feel the need to do this for other characters.
