“The Education Secretary doesn’t understand the repercussions of what she’s doing.” Bridget Phillipson's drive to “bureaucratise everything” will damage schools' ability to educate children, says Britain’s strictest headmistress @Miss_Snuffy. @AFNeil | #TimesRadio

A question from Annie Sands and I . Has your GP asked that they require schools to make a referral for autism diagnosis ? 'DAWN' are receiving a high number of referrals from parents who say GP's will not refer it must come from the school. 🤔 #SEND #autism @anniefoss

More sessions coming up at Parent Carers Cornwall - incredibly they are able to provide these to people for free, this is a rare thing, something we have got used to down here, but something which will be ending soon, so take advantage of it whilst it lasts.

If she’d listened to anyone or shown a shred of humility it might have saved her. Between the cuts, the attack on successful academies, vandalism of the curriculum & taxing education (inc disabilities ON TOP) she’s blown it. Resign @bphillipsonMP.

Monique Botha is actually they/them 🤷🏻‍♀️
They aren't asking people about how better than they can be supported, they are taking an approach of hands down just slashing costs. They have categorically no respect for disabled people and what we endure and in my opinion talk about us with disdain.

@martinimarie There’s a brilliant paper by @k_runswick_cole & colleagues about the gaslighting of (m)others (primary caregivers) of SEND kids by professionals. One woman in my research was told they’d think she had Munchausen’s if she referred more than one child for asd assessment!

@1fabfamily The judge laughed and said does your professional body know that you suggest there is no benefit for a child to receive occupational therapy from an occupational therapist!!

I found out today that Kent LA are no longer writing EHCPs with SALT in. SALTs breaching HCPC left right and centre - it is embarrassing to the profession & if you’re a SALT that is complicit in this, I hope your children never need speech and language…

@1fabfamily @SLT_Francesca @SEN_advice We won. My son got 1-1 OT, SLT and a place in a prep school with small class sizes (which then meant he also got transport). All of the LAs arguments were flawed. The judge said they could have saved themselves a lot of time & money had they worked with us, rather than against.

@dyscluded @SEN_advice Did she provide the rationale? I’d love for see the evidence base for this. Seems counterproductive taking away from the importance of her own job. Did you manage to get 1:1 OT in the end?

95% of autistic children are bullied in school. It's not 'snobbery' to choose one you feel is safer than another. It's survival. Autism and bullying search.app/H6SwDxV6bvT7WP…

@Patrick50645151 @anaboultertv Sadly all too many children are in private schools for this very reason. Their parents struggle to pay for it because they can’t get the support they need in the state system. Now with #SchoolFeeVAT it is even more unaffordable for many more people.

@anaboultertv Perhaps a lot more SEND children be sent to private schools but unfortunately few can afford that!

When arguing over whether VAT should be applied to education one might want to reflect on the children in private ed and why they are there? youtu.be/OZTol2JMK4U?si… The D in SEND stands for Disabilities.
