Cost of living is food prepared at home, transport, housing, utilities, essential clothing, toiletries etc, health care and education. Days to theme parks, holidays, restaurants etc are not 'cost of living' expenses. They are lifestyle choices.

@adam_smasha I don't disagree that everything is expensive right now, but these should be different categories.

@KitPeacock Yeah but when eating out is $20 a pop, it kinda stops feeling like a "treat" and turns into an actual budget problem for a lot of folks

@KitPeacock He's destroying America along with the global economy. Americans will end up in long lines at their closest soup kitchen with those who tried to live cheap and those who lived beyond their means. The US will also completely run out of its strategic oil reserve around July at this

@aminohead0311 Ah we're in the UK, I doubt Trump is giving out discounts on theme parks. Unless Trumpworld is a thing now.

See the problem with this is it only delays the problem by 1-2 years. If your family is reliant on that child's benefits to sustain itself, you need a plan for when they turn 18. Giving these families financial coaching would likely be more effective long term.

@G55Pam Very much the same here. I have less objection to kids bus fares being funded however, places like where I live don't even have a library without going to the next village.

@KitPeacock If I wanted to go out today there’s only one bus an hour, if you want it to connect to another you’ve no chance, it would take hours to get there. Sunday’s and B Hol rubbish service, daily not much difference either.

@2Wheeledbarbie @roaring2047 It is absolutely comparable. You like to sponge off disabled kids in private schools. You also like cheap theme park tickets. The entitlement of the 93% is now clearly visible. It was never about poor kids in state schools. It was about freebies all along.

Saving VAT on theme park visits is a very bitter pill to swallow for parents of SEND children at independent school, many of whom struggle to find the extra hundreds of pounds to pay the World’s only non-subsidised education tax.

@InPoetsShoes @roaring2047 You have to pay about two years of private specialist assessments and legal fees just to get an EHCP for a private school. The state almost never awards them, they just name one unsuitable state provision after another in the hope you give up. And Labour is about to abolish most.

@PaulfrYorkshire Go walk down the cereal aisle in the supermarket, there's usually a coupon for an attraction on there for one free kid of something which will save you more than this scheme, and at expense only to the park owner.

@PaulfrYorkshire I have no objection to theme parks. What I object to is disabled children being sponged off by entitled people who then celebrate wasting the proceeds on decadence. If you want to go to a theme park, fine, but you pay for it, not the taxpayer.

@PaulfrYorkshire My mum is taking my kid to the local swimming pool for half term, followed by baking cupcakes at home. Kidlet already told me she's looking forward to it. We really need to stop with the 'if you don't go to a theme park you are deprived' nonsense.

@PaulfrYorkshire Kids getting private education helps the economy to the tune of billions a year, while receiving essential care that the state has usually failed to deliver. Grandma already gets senior discount for her luxury trip to Alton Towers. Perhaps she could pack a picnic?

@asdfriendly Exactly. If people are so poor that they can't feed kids over summer, that is a big issue. Not going out is a bit of a shame.

@KitPeacock Those that are really struggling with CoL will be worrying how to manage to feed kids no longer getting school dinners they aren’t going to be celebrating a few quid off a £60pp ticket to a theme park. It’s shows a complete absence of thought and understanding.

@Outspoken_Sam I think you'll find kids exposed to sexual media, loss of innocence, violence against women and murder, surging mental illness, intimidating behaviour, censored speech and sexualised dancing are all also common in the straight community. A bit of Matthew 7:3 required here.

🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ Pride Month is coming up. Let's remember what this movement has given us: - Sexually graphic books in schools - Grown adult males in dresses dancing provocatively for children - Lying to people about being able to change their sex - Mutilating children - Stopping puberty, causing lifelong damage - Turning kids and teens into lifelong medical patients - Teachers transitioning students in secret while telling them their parents are dangerous - Censored speech and forced language with legal consequences for non-compliance - Men in women's bathrooms - Female athletes losing life-changing scholarships, medals, and awards - Silencing and intimidating women - Trans violence, including murder - Assassinating Charlie Kirk - Surging mental illness - Confusing children and stealing their innocence That's what "Pride Month" celebrates. Yay.

@DT10113 @simonhancock_uk You're not bursting my bubble. My child gets what many kids do get on the state, but not here. Your beloved state system discriminates against my child and every other child in our postcode, giving the lion's share of resources to the rich in other areas.

@KitPeacock @simonhancock_uk Sorry to burst your bubble, you are buying advantage for your child over what they would receive within state. Otherwise why pay?

It's very clear now that school VAT was never about feeding starving kids or boosting state schools. The vast majority of hungry kids are not getting 'free' breakfast, teachers are down by 400, SEND being rolled back, and the public happy with discount theme park tickets instead

@DT10113 @simonhancock_uk Given? I'm a single mum of a child with autism. Everything she gets is paid for by hard graft, and is no more than rich kids get for free by living in a posh house. We are paying for equity, not advantage.

@CounsellingSam Autistic and ADHD people. Very clear from the propaganda train. What a pity that you belong to a party that has joined in by supporting the disability tax on independent schooling.

It really upsets me how easily the UK has turned on disabled people, trans people and Black, Brown and Muslim people. Who's going to be next?
