@Aren_Gee @chuckpogi That's important to learn too, the point here is that there shouldn't be this much focus on World war 2 because there are hundreds of other topics in Philippine history that should be covered in more depth.

@chuckpogi Right, we don't need to study history, because if we do, we won't know that communism killed millions of people in China.

"Cheap political points"? That’s an insult to decades of frustration and neglect that people from Mindanao and the Visayas have lived through. These are not manufactured grievances, they are lived realities. I’ve seen it myself: we pay taxes, but where do the benefits go? To Imperial Manila. Look around, the MRTs, LRTs, specialized hospitals like the Heart Center, Lung Center, and Kidney Center, etc all concentrated in Luzon. Meanwhile, Mindanao and Visayas still struggle with underdeveloped infrastructure, healthcare gaps, and lack of national attention. And yet, people like you dare call it cheap politics when Mindanaoans simply demand fairness? The real ‘cheap’ act here is dismissing genuine regional pain as propaganda. The problem isn’t the people of Mindanao asking for equality. The problem is that for decades, the power and corruption have been concentrated in Luzon. The money looted by those politicians could have built hundreds of schools, hospitals, and roads in Mindanao and Visayas. Let’s not deny these facts. Let’s not act like Yellow or Pink supporters who only recognize truths that are convenient for their narrative. This is not about politics, it’s about long-overdue justice for the regions that built this nation but were always left behind.

Over the past weeks, Duterte-aligned propagandists led by Kiko Barzaga have been using real frustrations in Mindanao for cheap political points. As I told in this interview for the @SCMPNews , they are cynically exploiting long-standing grievances about inequality and neglect — grievances that the Dutertes themselves failed to fix after six years in Malacañang. What is coming out from the Duterte propaganda machine is not about genuinely advocating for Mindanao secession but more about consolidating the Duterte bailiwick. It’s a political pressure tactic; a way to frame themselves as victims of “Imperial Manila” and rally regional loyalty now that their national influence weakens. A similar campaign centered on federalism got Duterte to the presidency in 2016 but it was dropped from the government agenda as soon as its political use is done. The Dutertes use these kinds of propaganda— from federalism to Mindanao secession— to preserve their hold over Mindanao politics and deflect accountability for corruption, governance failures, and their falling national standing. Few things are more emotionally charged and mobilizing than invoking a “Mindanao versus Manila” narrative, so they’re using it to shore up loyalty and praying that it will insulate their base from erosion. amp.scmp.com/week-asia/poli…

@lin_linvy 🇵🇸"🇹🇼" is so funny bc using the ROC flag in reference to the palestinian movement in taiwan, when most taiwanese supporters of palestine would also gladly see the dissolution of the ROC settler colonial state... you clearly don't even know what you're talking about lmao

@JPropTarts Yeah Aguinaldo made a big mistake trusting them in the first place, but the circumstances were different from Vietnam where the Filipinos literally fought the Spaniards together.

iirc Ho Chi Minh also looked to the US as a model democracy in the context of the US having won its independence from Britain during the Amerikkkan "Revolution" but in the end, he was correct to realize and acknowledge that US imperialism was one of, if not the biggest obstacle-

@chuckpogi He praised the USA because at the time they looked to be a reliable ally, and America was also an example of another Democratic Republic of the west whivh Aguinaldo wished to emulate. It was the best case scenario for the Republic to not anger America because there was no realis-

@e09593950 ...he is not interferred in his private affairs. Not to mention his collaboration with the Japanese Imperial Army during World War 2. Instead of leading or supporting the guerillas he sided with Japan and and called on the Filipinos to surrender to the Japanese.

Look at the big picture and not just the small, trivial details. Aguinaldo has this pattern of capitulations and treachery all throughout his leadership. Not to mention his incompetence and looking after his personal interests above the interests of the revolution.
Langgar🇵🇭🇺🇦🇵🇸🇹🇼@e09593950

He gave himself up because he was quite literally captured? I'm not sure what else the dude could have done. If he was really a traitor he would've surrendered the moment the Americans got the upper hand, why did the fight for 2 more years and make effort in the Guerilla war?

@e09593950 He was captured because he is a weak and incompetent leader. He surrendered when the Americans are on him in Palanan, in contrast to his generals who fought to their last breath. Upon his surrender, Aguinaldo readily suckled America's toes and agreed to their terms as long as...
