Consummata Est: There are four more Bishops in the world

Lucifer, they say, fell because of pride.
This attitude of 'I know it all and everyone else is wrong' is quite troubling.
By claiming that they defend Tradition, isn't it ironical that they choose to go directly against the Church and the Holy Father?
What about docility to the Church, the Holy See and the successors of Peter?
Pride isn't a virtue.

SSPX Consecrations – SSPX Superior General Father Pagliarani defends the consecrations during his homily:
“Today we take exceptional means which are proportionate to the needs of the Church today
...
Are we in the process of choosing between the faith & the Church — in order to keep the faith are we separating ourselves from the Church? It’s a false dilemma.
We belong to the Church by the integral profession of the faith.
…
We cannot choose between the faith and belonging to the Church, no one can make that choice. We want the faith of the Church in order to stay inside the Church & we want the Church by the faith, in the faith.”

Wednesday Audience — Pope Leo XIV
However, this applies to everyone, as even the most significant relationships find their fullness through the love that Christ gives us. Consider married life: it can only be lived fully by "leaving" one's parents' home (cf. Mt 19:6) in order to commit to the life of marriage. We can also consider the upbringing of children. We help them to fulfill themselves and be happy by teaching them to "stand on their own two feet" and make their own choices.

@piersmorgan This world cup is for the French to lose. This is a scary team. Really good football

This is arrogance and disobedience. The Pope has made the most sincere fatherly appeal to them, and it's a pity that the superior general responds in this manner.
How do they claim to preserve Tradition while at the same time undermining the authority of the Pope?
Doesn't obedience to the tradition require them to obey the office of the Pope?
English

Well, pride isn't a virtue.
The Holy Father has sent a beautifully worded Fatherly letter literally begging them to reconsider their decision. If they don't, they are to blame. Whether the superior general wanted to meet the Pope and got no opportunity or not, it's irrelevant if he chooses to ignore a direct request from the Holy Father.

🚨 The SSPX Superior General Fr. Davide Pagliarani has RESPONDED to Pope Leo XIV:
'For a long time, I had hoped to have the opportunity of meeting You in person, in order to express to You directly our sincere desire to serve the Church. Unfortunately, that opportunity has not presented itself'

English

@EdwardPentin @dianemontagna Beautifully written. I hope they listen to his Fatherly plea.

In a final appeal, Pope Leo XIV has implored the Society of St Pius X not to go ahead with its consecrations tomorrow of four bishops without a papal mandate:
The full text (working English translation):
"To the Reverend
Don Davide Pagliarani
Superior General
of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X
With a fatherly heart, I wish to address you and, through you, the bishops, priests, seminarians, and faithful associated with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X, mindful of the responsibility the Lord has entrusted to me as Successor of the Apostle Peter.
The Church recognizes the commitment to liturgical life, the dedication to priestly formation, the apostolic zeal, and the desire for fidelity to Tradition that characterize many individuals and communities associated with this Fraternity. This has motivated the attitude of attention and benevolence that my Predecessors have consistently shown toward you.
In this spirit, and filled with Christian affection, I beg and implore you with all my heart: turn back! I urge you to carefully consider the spiritual good of the faithful, for the schismatic act you would commit would deprive them of the lawful—and in some cases even valid—reception of the sacraments they love and seek for their own sanctification.
The Church is open to a path of dialogue and understanding that the Holy Spirit can make possible and fruitful.
I pray for you, for tearing the seamless Tunic of Christ is a sin of the utmost gravity. May the Lord enlighten your consciences and awaken your hearts. By the authority received from Christ, with a sorrowful heart yet still full of hope, I feel the duty to ask you to desist from your intention, and I entrust these intentions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Good Counsel.
From the Vatican, June 29, 2026
Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the Apostles
LEO XIV"
