the best single quick win we've gotten for business productivity in the last 6 months was we started to dump things into google sheets for data deliverables, now everyone on the team is spreadsheet pilled.
@JustJake@fivetran@JustJake what's the data source? If Portable can support it, I'll comp your flow for a year to help you recoup your $3k. Even after that, we charge $200/month and don't care about data volumes (because we've been in your shoes and hate unexpected bills).
Hey @fivetran what’s up with this?
We just got a $3000 bill for syncing rows we expressly told FT to NOT sync
Your customer support told us to pound sand and this is expected behavior.
So, why even have selectable fields in the first place?
@matsonj@DSMoxon What's the POS system @matsonj At Portable, those are the types of systems we love to integrate with (the super niche applications). Development is free, we just need to know what the tool is and we can dig in.
@DSMoxon The underlying problem is they have a very industry specific point of sale system that is not supported by the big players and is not implemented uniformly across all sites.
so i'm working with a client who shall not be named. their pipeline has been down since nov. it took them 6 weeks to get me access to snowflake. lets see what i find
@emilyhawkins__ The cost of 30 people is ~$6m/yr.
When I consider TCO (and ROI) for a data team, I like to look at both headcount + tech costs. It's always a balancing act.
How do you balance saving money on Snowflake with spending money on headcount to do so?
@dyaffe@zachweinberg@dyaffe - physical books are so 2021. @zachweinberg - true ownership of 'daveface - a photo diary' is for sale if you're interested (NFT of course)
