Sea Surface Temperatures are ~0.2C warmer than they were during the last major El Niño year (2016). The planet is warming ~0.28C/decade, so 8 years gives ~0.2C warming. It's as warm as we would expect given ongoing global warming and a major El Niño. The truth is bad enough.
