What on earth are Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael doing locking the protesters out of the talks, talks that are meant to be about addressing the fuel crisis.   They  are making an absolute shambles of things - escalating this crisis instead of doing their job. They need to lift the phone, engage with the protesters and hear what they have to say.  The priority has to be ending the protests, getting fuel prices down and doing this as quickly as possible.

Today, we remember the generations of Irish men and women who devoted their lives to the cause of freedom. I was proud to join with leaders from across Ireland at the GPO in Dublin. The vision and ideals of the 1916 Proclamation remain as relevant as ever, an independent and sovereign Ireland rooted in equality and justice for all. Westminster has never, and will never, act in the interests of communities on our island. Now is the time to take our future into our own hands by building a new and united Ireland. Together, we can shape an Ireland that provides real hope, opportunity and prosperity for every worker, family, and community that calls this place home.

Time to recall the Dáil. Fuel prices remain far too high. People are under huge pressure, and the government has failed to do all it can to support workers and families. Sinn Féin has called on the government to reconvene the Dáil and take real action to get costs down at the pumps and make life more affordable. Cut taxes on home heating oil, go further on petrol and diesel, and deliver real cost of living support. This can and should be done without further delay. I will keep fighting for the action Ireland needs and for the support that you and your family deserve.
