@earowang @casperhart This looks amazing! The commitment to use emoji in commit messages is also impressive 😆

If you explore & visualise high-dim data using tour, my student @casperhart has been building the next generation vis engine for tour in #rstats with typescript. {detourr} ahead, follow the scenic route for the web:

@casperhart It's a portable, performant, and interactive display engine for tour. Beautiful and elegant work!

A pretty cool opportunity to scale interactive d3.js #dataviz to an additional 70 million monthly active users. Very excited to see what this will mean for simplifying and improving code-free graphs!

🎉 This is a milestone for the R Journal: transforming a traditional pdf-based publication venue to an interactive web-based platform. Honoured to be part of the editorial team, and excited to author a **real** interactive graphics paper with @visnut journal.r-project.org/dev/articles/R…

@visnut @lenkiefer @IsabellaGhement @pridiltal @nj_tierney Yea, this session perfectly fits into this year's theme: statistics, data, and the stories they tell. Thanks to all of our amazing speakers for beautiful storytelling. and my slides sit at slides.earo.me/jsm21/

Just finished a fantastic session on Time Series Analysis and Visualization at #JSM2021 with @earowang @nj_tierney and @lenkiefer. Thank you @earowang for organizing this fantastic session. @visnut it was so good to have you during the discussions. #rstats #datascience

Take a break from teaching... #AcademicLife As an inexperienced lecturer who just started my second year, I currently teach #rstats to > 300 students. Markings have been automated, so that I have bandwidths to develop new and creative materials for stats220.earo.me .

@KenButler12 In fact I don't have TAs, but 3 lab helpers who do Q&A sessions. Since I revamp this course, lab helpers haven't been trained. Agree, students should explain ideas. My final assignment is to ask them to explain what learnt from data in Rmd.
English

@minebocek They submit R files. For the last assignment, they will submit Rmd.
English

@earowang This sounds awesome I’ve been doing something similar and would love to compare notes sometime! Are students submitting Rmd files on Canvas?
English

@smussenden In the meantime, you may find {gradethis} useful for marking rstudio-education.github.io/gradethis/inde… if you use {learnr}.
English

@KenButler12 ~ 10% of students for a big assignment. I've set up a google form for them to complain, and respond them in bundles. When I go through their submissions, neither can run their scripts, nor check outputs against the values I provided.
English

@smussenden currently sits in my private repo, with all student's data. When I get this semester done, will wrap them in a package and write a post perhaps.
