I finally discovered why they are doing this! The new Kindle devices have ads in them, which you have to pay extra to remove them. I’m assuming they couldn’t put ads on the old Kindles. Sooner or later the ads will play every other page! We live in corporate hell now!

I will repeat the same advice that I got and followed as a college freshman from a random r/AskReddit thread ten years ago: A pair of good earplugs at loud concerts/raves/clubs/bars etc. will not only 1) improve the experience but also 2) save you from a lifetime of tinnitus
