@NickDaDroid i still think flint was neglecting lucas to some extent though. even if not by intention, it was still neglect. and interpreting his as a grief-stricken father who neglects his son due to his obsession to find his other, missing son, is honestly a lot more interesting imo
English

@NickDaDroid entirely absent from lucas's life considering the upkeep of their home despite it being continuously struck by "lightning", and that flint would have to be earning some income by sheering the sheep and selling their wool in order to maintain the state of their house
English

@ciii_ceee it's the popular interpretation of the character that he's trying to push against in this video. but i think the idea that flint was negligent was very much the intent. i don't think him being negligent makes him a bad person or necessarily a bad father, though. he's complicated
English

@soyhuman00 that being said, flint's dialogue on tanetane is definitely not to be taken literally, and is more of a manifestation of lucas's internalized fears of flint violently lashing out at him after witnessing what happened at the campfire
English

@soyhuman00 i agree. but too much of this video is spent trying to push back on the idea that flint is negligent whatsoever. i think he really likes flint as a character and doesn't want to see him as culpable of that level of wrongdoing

@Acestarsz i agree 100%. in this video i feel like he puts too much focus on hypotheticals on why he believes flint isn't neglectful. but i think there's much more evidence within the text to suggest he is, and it also makes the narrative and flint as a character more interesting

@earthbound64 It’s a part of his character I love for how unintentionally harmful and helpful it ends up being where he’s so adamant on making sure “his boys” are safe and okay that being so focused on looking for Claus makes him neglect Lucas which in turn makes Lucas more independent

@earthbound64 It’s a warning told to kids during a thunderstorm, stemming from the folklore that the god of thunder Raijin or his companion Raiju will take and eat the belly buttons of kids who don't cover their stomachs. This blog goes into detail about its origins👇
