Elon Musk asking why 20,000 people work at the Fed is almost like asking why SpaceX has engineers—it’s how complex systems function. The Federal Reserve manages inflation, stabilizes markets, oversees banks, and supports the entire financial system. Monetary policy isn’t run by vibes and memes. But when you have money, you can bs your way incongruously through a question and still get an applause. People don’t think anymore.
