@NYPoliticsTakes @hellspatisserie suffolk voted for bill clinton 2x, gore, kerry, obama 2x. trump barely won 2020.
ppl saw a couple loud guys with red hats recently and forgot about all of the obama signs and facebook “change” pfps

@hellspatisserie There’s this false narrative that Long Island is a Republican stronghold when it’s actually a swing region that’s Dem leaning on the state and federal level.
It is heavily GOP on the local and county level but the Nassau County GOP is nothing like the Alabama GOP.

@NEVERLOGGINGOUT Cake Pops? I’ve listened to 100 episodes of Red Scare. When have they ever mentioned Cake Pops?
English

One of the most untrue statements ever. It’s just that girl culture is way more subtle than boy culture. Dasha’s legacy can be found in Cake Pops and Brandy Melville. Nick Mullens influence can be seen in guys literally just stealing his jokes verbatim.

My favorite thing about the "Red Scare" podcast is that I can't think of a single thing they've injected into the cultural zeigeist that we're inhabiting. Just total passengers. They're exactly what Nikita Bier called "slop aggregators."

@Keons2448 mind you nobodys gonna know who alyssa liu is in 3 weeks so ..?
English

??? the song has like an actual music video with actual choreography so im confused why they used this nothing ass skate routine as inspo??
Shiina@ShiinaBR
The Stateside Fortnite emote is based on Alysa Liu's performance at the Winter Olympics Exhibition Gala

@jbillinson do you know what genes are?
even if u want to attribute it to where ppl grew up rather than genes:
california/ny dominate cross country nationals, arizona sends bobody
colorado has niwot but its practically a team of pro runners kids (ie genes again)

@avidseries @JenniferALeoni @utonomosthought even w/ the strawman, open it up to sub 10.1 and i think it still may be in favor of asia as a whole
English

@avidseries also like boling would not have to lead off, if he was in 2022 form (19.9 200m into wind, ie great top-end) that is a legitimately good option on a 4x100
English

@avidseries how strict are you about "non-black hispanic" like, could you put ilias garcia (9.9 guy) on the team?
this US team would make the final:
coleman/bednarek
kalen walker
matt boling or perhaps one of the white 110 hurdlers (trey cunningham, connor schulman)
ilias garcia

@Alan_Couzens i ran roughly the same 5k time on 35+workouts vs a buildup to a singular 70 mile week with no quality
English

I dunno, man...
If you're say a 20 minute 5K runner doing 30mi/wk w/ 2 specific interval workouts/wk.
You drop the interval workouts for a year and commit to building to consistent 60mi/wk of *only* easy miles plus strides. Then run a 5K.
I know where I'm putting my money.
Steve Magness@stevemagness
It's not run slow to run fast... It's run a lot of easy to give you the foundation and capacity to handle and absorb all sorts of moderate to hard training. They work in concert. You don't just magically get faster by lots of easy. It supports the rest.

@avidseries @MpowersCoach Parvej Khan was actually still on the florida roster when this happened but was busted at a race in india
if the india drug testing is better than the ncaa testing there absolutely have to be concerns wrt level of testing in NCAA
English

i dont necessarily think Jane is doping but a lot of NCAA stars get busted on the international/pro circuit and presumably could have been getting away with it in college
some that come to mind:
Divine Oduduru(sub 10/20 sprinter)
Michael Saruni (1:43 800m)
Parvej Khan (multi time indian champ)
also way too many sub-20 200m sprinters in the SEC that are never heard from again after college
