This wellness cabin sits on 25 sqm of the floor area. While we envisioned a normal timber house, he saw something that was more creative. As I always say, the best ideas come when you let your customers decide what they want to do with your designs, this rustic place is one of the few you will find in the country.

Finishing stage update from our 4-bedroom home. Painting and varnishing for the exterior is done, doors are going in, clerestory louvers and glazing are being installed, and floor sanding is underway. Kitchen works up next. It’s all coming together. #constructionupdate

A-frames had lacked meaning and they were considered impractical, dead spaces etc, but we are making them Great Again. No one would have done it in East Africa it wasn't us.

I passed by the site today and the finishing works are moving on well. This 4 bedroom house is gonna be a good one, the client chose it because of the fact that it was affordable and easier to set up. No one could have done it if not us. If you have any questions about it please share and we shall respond as soon as possible.

You don’t have to have to pay all the money today to have the house built.

Kitchens. It is something that can inspire you or demotivate you. Our designer sometimes spends weeks just to agree with clients on what works for them. Every beautiful layout you see , the colors , the positions are based on thoughts by people on how they would like to interact with their own cooking areas. A backsplash was never in the old designs but one time a client proposed it and it happened that the next one also found it necessary. What would not miss in your ideal Kitchen?

Why I mainly talk about timber? The truth of the matter is that I also believe in construction with other materials like Earth, stone etc but the conversation of timber had for so long seen as a western idea. Our ancestors built palaces and community structures with timber, the only difference is that by then modernity had not taken a step. Take a look at Uganda for example, the colonialists came and sold us whatever they wanted, and reserved the best to themselves. Most staff housing of that time was built in wood. Makerere, Jinja , Kasese all still have remnants of the timber footprints, in 2023, we came back with this story at Easy Housing to change the landscape of how people can live. Timber is in abaudance in Uganda, we are building with timber from Uganda but also still giving the same capacity to countries with not yet mature plantations like Kenya. In Uganda alone , 60% of unprocessed timber is in control by the small holder farmers, imagine if this potential was tapped! We can still build 6700 homes per year by sourcing timber from Jinja alone meaning other parts of the country have the potential. The two plantings seasons in Uganda can allow for constant plantation establishments every March -April , September-October. Timber will remain the safe haven as the resources that built empires of the previous centuries keep depleting.

A sufficiently built timber structure is indistinguishable from a conventional build. I mean look at this, can you easily tell what materials this cabin is made of without touching it? 😅
