The absence of any ideological minority highlights how elite academic institutions have drifted far from the political reality of the US electorate. What Yale calls diversity now excludes half the country by design. Carlos Eire, a professor of history and religious studies, said there is almost no intellectual diversity at Yale or most universities when it comes to politics, adding that academics in the US, Canada, and Europe have leaned left for three or four generations with no sign of reversal anytime soon.
