You know you’re in your 30s when your impulse purchase on a weekend was an artisanal mustard at a farmers market because the vendor told you a cool story about the person who makes the mustard

@AveryFrancis I had very similar thoughts- the inequality in post layoff support is real. From community, and employer. I love seeing folks offering support/résumé reviewers/network intros to layoffs - but it seems to prioritize from specific orgs vs anyone who has been laid off and needs help

In the case of these ongoing layoffs from esteemed tech darlings — I feel for folks who are still navigating the job market from lesser-known tech firms who got much smaller severance packages. The hard truth is — every time a big tech darling like Shopify lays off a bunch of their people, the Shopify-folk (and the broader tech community rally hard making intros and referrals — for a good reason), and the Shopify-folk resumes go right up to the top of the pile, making it even more challenging for talented folks who have been interviewing for months with less brand power on their resume (bias, baby. It’s a bitch).
