I had the best weekend in Toronto, Canada! Thank you to everyone who was a part of it 🇨🇦 🫶🏻 Got to finally meet (almost all of) our Canadian team and share an incredible meal together. These are some of the faces behind your favorite websites and brands ❤️🎉 😉 Spoke at @ecomnorthsummit in front of 1,100 founders, marketers and media buyers. Talked all about building teams to CRO and top of funnel. Thank you @AdityaGullia for having me! 🍳 Got breakfast with the King of Tea, @tea_maverick. I always leave our convos feeling so energized and ready to work!! ⚡️ Hosted a Limited Supply Toronto meetup at Burgers N Fries Forever — some people drove 5 hours to get there. One of the most powerful learnings I had from @ecomnorthsummit was from @AaronSpivak2 . He said, "Could someone else reach your business goal if they were running your business?" If so, then why not you? Read that again and let that sink in.

One thing’s for sure - the Canadians know how to put on a good show. It was our first time exhibiting in Toronto and @ecomnorthsummit did not disappoint. Over the last year, I've attended over a dozen e-commerce and SaaS shows across the US. Shows with as many as 80,000 people to as little as 200 people. All had sponsors. All had attendees.  But, not all shows were made the same. Here are three things that I believe create winning shows: 1️⃣ Going deep within one community This makes it much easier to find common ground with more people, quickly. Sometimes the shows are too broad - too many groups within one ecosystem that get invited to the same show. There is less opportunity for serendipitous meetings, which is what makes these shows awesome. 2️⃣ Quality over cash Often, I see misalignment between the show organizers and the incentives of the attendees / sponsors, creating for a poor experience. When the organizer has no skin in the game, I think the experience is worse. Usually, it results in a high vendor to attendee ratio - meaning lots of money for the organizers, but poor experience for attendees with sponsors aggressively pitching attendees to make the ROI worth it. 3️⃣ Keeping them to 1-2 days These shows are marathons - you are talking, networking and socializing for 14-16 hours a day across multiple events and trying to put on your best face. It’s impossible to keep that pace as a human being without burning out. It’s why after Day 2 there is a massive drop off in attendance @shipstallion and Ecom North checked every single one of these boxes. I already can’t wait for the next one...

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking at @ecomnorthsummit about how you can practically improve conversions. It had been a while since I spoke to a crowd so I was a bit nervous. Then I arrived and saw how many people were there (700+) and got reallllll nervous. But after about 30 seconds, I felt right at home. It felt so good to share what we are doing at 253 Media to drive conversions for our brands and teach other brand owners how they can implement our strategies. Plus I got to meet so many incredible people throughout the day who quickly became new friends! If you're in ecom, add Ecom North to your event list for next year. It's a MUST ATTEND event!
