Rodney Brown Jr. (@rodneybrown04), a dynamic, lengthy 6’6” guard with a knack for creation, has officially joined the Loyola Marymount University Lions. After two seasons bouncing between Cal and Virginia Tech, the junior is poised to make a significant impact in a brand-new setting. Last season in limited minutes at Virginia Tech, he averaged 4.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, but those numbers don't tell the whole story. His game is defined by a crafty, patient approach, full of deceptive fakes and a great jab step. He uses these tools to create space for a smooth midrange jumper and is a legitimate threat from beyond the arc, where he hit an impressive 42% of his shots. What makes Brown Jr. so fun to watch is his ability to patiently maneuver through defenses with his long, slender frame. He has a unique wiggle to his game, allowing him to get to his spots on the court and create scoring opportunities. His offensive creation looks effortless with a natural feel for the game. With a bigger role and more minutes expected at LMU, Brown Jr. is primed for a breakout season.
