To the Class of 2026 & 2027,
Yesterday was a big day in the softball world. September 1st. For some, it brought excitement, calls, texts, new opportunities. But for many others, it brought silence.
If you're one of the girls who didn’t get a call, a message, or any kind of sign, I see you. I was you. I remember what that silence feels like. I remember watching others post their “first calls” while I sat refreshing my phone, wondering if I wasn’t good enough, if all the work I put in was for nothing. It’s easy to start questioning yourself.
To the uncommitted 2026s, who may feel like time is running out, breathe. You’re not behind. You’re not forgotten. And your future is still full of purpose. To the 2027s, just beginning the journey and already feeling the pressure, don’t let one day define your value. This is only the beginning, and God is already ahead of you.
Let me say this clearly. Your worth is not based on a call. Your identity isn’t found in who contacts you and God’s plan for your life is not limited by a recruiting timeline.
I didn’t commit on September 1st.
I committed the summer after my senior year. Not because I wasn’t working, but because God was still writing my story.
So if September 1st came and went, and all you felt was silence, don’t give up.
That silence doesn’t mean you’re behind.
It doesn’t mean you’re forgotten. And it definitely doesn’t mean God isn’t moving.
Keep working. Keep trusting. Keep seeking HIM in the silence. Because the silence isn’t empty, He’s in it. And He’s faithful to finish what He starts. Let Jesus lead. Because when it’s His time, no one can take what He has planned for you.
Whether the call comes this year, or next year, His timing is perfect. Your job? Stay faithful to the process, and keep your eyes on Jesus.
You're not alone in this.

13 years ago today, Anthony Rizzo made his Cubs debut & stole the hearts of every Cubs fan.
In that span:
- 1308 games played
- 1311 hits
- 242 home runs
- 4 Gold Gloves
- World Series Championship
As a catcher, I can’t think of something more frustrating.
You work so hard for THAT moment- the MAYBE 10x someone attempts to steal (for Reese, even less opportunities than that).
You have the girl out by a country mile- it’s not even close.
And THAT happens.
& then they score. CRUSHING.
