The hardest thing I've faced in my 8-year MIT investigation is the implausibility of what I was learning. @RealCandaceO 's introduction of #mega makes it overwhelmingly plausible to believe what happened next. @MIT @medialab

@RogueKite I respect you and am grateful for your posts, but for now I believe Carlson is genuinely sounding the alarm on Israel and that he’s honest in his intent. As the saying goes, I’m gonna play this one as it lays.

What Carlson is doing right now is EXACTLY what he was doing in 2023... Which was moving from Network TV to feign "indepdendence" on the internet and lead a wartime CIA operation to herd anti-Israel supporters to the right, start cults, drive the war propaganda for phase 2 of their World War plans and do limited hangouts about CIA ops. Thiel and the CIA more broadly pay their own hagiographers - That's always true... but Tucker is more than that. He's special. The CIA's PT 2 of the Trump admin pretending to be moral. An amnesiac's trusted dissident against the evil of US wars he's spent his life pushing and presidential hopeful inspired by their low-rent conservative Kennedy assassination redux op to usher in the second coming of the Cold War. The guy who can somehow do incessant anti-communism and also be pushed by their ACP op, Galloway and Grayzone. The fact that his project was fronted by CIA contractors is certainly indisputable evidence... But it's nothing compared to listening to the words coming out of the man's mouth. I can tell what I'm watching from a million miles away. Anyone pretending he's not what he is is just giving themselves away. The fucked up thing is how many very stupid people will be handing their money to the CIA in donations to his podcast thinking he opposes Israel and endless wars he absolutely supports... But let's be real, who among us hasn't fallen for that one.

I’d also add that OpenAI and big tech guys imagine that the only way to understand value is through high profit margins of monopolistic frontier labs. And when challenged, they can’t consider being in a low margin business. But in an open and competitive market, profits get competed away, and the value accrues to consumers, suppliers, and the community at large. These guys aren’t asking for a fair return on capital, they seek excessively high profits. Chinese open source models are wrecking their assumption but that’s because it’s competition. Their response is to ask the U.S. government to impose a form of corporate communism, on their behalf. Low margins have killed their hopes and dreams. Good. And let that be a lesson to the left - equality is a result of fair and competitive markets.
Jon Stokes@jon_stokes

Look I think I've figured this whole thing out. Follow along as I try to steelman, and tell me where I'm wrong. OpenAI guys on the TL believe that if they can't sell metered inference tokens at a sufficient markup, then they will not have enough of a business to fund the next big training run. They are surely correct about this. They believe that if people release powerful open models, this will probably fatally impact their ability to sell inference tokens at enough of a markup to fund the next big training run. They are surely correct about this, too. They also think that if they cannot fund the next big training run (again, by selling inference tokens at a markup), then NOBODY will be able to fund the next big training run because it means there's no money in it. This last bit seems to me & many others to be not just wrong, but totally bananas in a "guy, have seen the actual software industry and how it works in real life?!" kind of way. There are a lot of ways to monetize software out there in the world. Insofar as inference can add new capabilities to software, there will be lots of ways to monetize it. In other words, if you're telling me, "we can't have a business selling inference if X or Y thing keeps happening," then my only response is, "ok well that sucks for you... sounds like that's a terrible business." But if you're telling me that "selling metered inference tokens is a terrible business" is tantamount to "nobody will fund big training runs that are upstream of more effective & economically valuable inference tokens", then I think you are extremely wrong and should get out more and learn about other parts of the software ecosystem. Workplace automation is huge and will be even bigger in the future as models get better. You can sell workplace automation very profitably in lots of different packages (depending on the workplace and the type of automation). Like, I'm sorry that you really really want to be in the metered inference token business and not the workplace automation business, but them's the breaks. The market wants what the market wants. We all need to live in reality and not beg for Uncle Sam to save us all from open source -- because that was already tried and it didn't work.

Eisenhower used Uniting for Peace at the UN to overcome the British and French veto to reverse their aggression with imperial Israel in 1956. A force of Colombian and Pakistani troops was created and forced their withdrawal. The British government fell. Then Israel began its nuclear weapons program with the French.....

Sylvia Earle, a prominent marine biologist and oceanographer, described herself as a founding member of Ghislaine Maxwell’s TerraMar Project, which was presented as an ocean conservation effort. Maggie Nixon, the daughter of James Alefantis’s friend Sarah Nixon who is the daughter of Agnes Nixon from “All My Children” worked with Earle on a film about the ocean. That film appeared in John Podesta’s 2016 emails, which asked for fundraising assistance. Earle holds the title “Ocean Elder,” shared with Richard Branson, who owns Necker Island. Branson’s property carries a disputed past, having hosted a NXIVM trafficking cult event. NXIVM contributed to Hillary Clinton’s campaigns and included senior figures linked to John Podesta and Alefantis. The Cafritz foundation, which gives money to Alefantis’s Transformer art gallery each year, is also tied to these connections.

Excuse me for being too much of an ayatollah, but this world cup should never have been played and everybody should have boycotted it. With Gaza undergoing a holocaust, Lebanon being destroyed and Iran under attack by a US-led coalition, and with ICE terrorizing Americans and foreigners, this has just felt wrong all along. We all know and feel it. The powers that be must never be allowed to rely on our conformity and desire to feel normal and ok to legitimize their horrors and atrocities. No celebrations, no festivities, no holidays, no special days. All of it feels like shit. The card of avoidance and nonparticipation is one of the strongest we got, and we abandoned it completely. It is all part of the normalization of fascism and genocide. There is no joy and no pride in tournaments and competitions played against a backdrop of untold, organized suffering. We need to learn to say no, or we're doomed, and doom others, too.

EPSTEIN NETWORK Jeffrey Epstein compiled his complete network into a single document. It exists in the archive. Larry Summers was in it. One document. Every name. The full architecture of the most significant private network in the world. Mikhail Gromov — one of the greatest living mathematicians. Noam Chomsky — the world's most prominent left wing intellectual. Peter Thiel — the billionaire PayPal founder and early Facebook investor. Steve Bannon — former White House Chief Strategist. Ehud Barak — former Prime Minister of Israel. Kathy Ruemmler — Obama's White House Counsel. Leon Black — billionaire founder of Apollo Global Management. Joi Ito — Director of the MIT Media Lab. Woody Allen — filmmaker. Terje Rod-Larsen — senior United Nations diplomat and former Middle East peace envoy. Reid Hoffman — founder of LinkedIn. Michael Wolff — author of Fire and Fury and Siege. These were not separate relationships. They were a single network. Compiled. Listed. Documented. Summers was not a peripheral contact in this network. He was one of its central nodes — corresponding with Epstein on tax schemes, Kazakhstan intelligence, Mongolian government advisory work, and the private assessments of sitting presidents. The document also listed intellectual subjects Epstein was working on across this network. Membrane computing. Fast Fourier transforms. Harmony. Knots. Matrix algebra. Face and image recognition. Acupuncture and pressure massage. Honest signals. Evolution. This was not a social circle. This was an operating system. Mathematicians. Politicians. Intelligence figures. Financiers. Authors. Scientists. Artists. All connected through one node. Jeffrey Epstein was that node. Source: DOJ Epstein Files Transparency Act release. Jmail Email Archive. larry-summers thread. January 8 2018.

@matthewstoller Yes, but only if you recognize it was all to serve Israel. Israel launched an LNG/natural gas cartel in 2006 and has blocked the transition to renewables ever since. that’s why they groomed Moniz to be energy secretary with the fake “future of nuclear power” co-chair gig.

In thee 2010s China cracked down on their big tech firms, breaking them apart and regulating them harshly. The U.S. coddled them with lax antitrust and tax rules. Can we finally admit the U.S. regulatory model has led to Chinese dominance?

@matthewstoller Read “National Security Consequences of Oil Dependency” (Deutch et al, 2006, CFR), a 20-year business plan. Mega saw the shale revolution as a finesse against oil, OPEC, and Iran. EVs and renewables were Israel’s enemies. Mega installed Moniz to sabotage clean energy.

The auto bailout was designed to hand EV technology to China. “G.M. also announced new agreements with SAIC to share advanced technology, including that used in the Chevy Volt, and promised China would become “one of the first” markets for the Volt.”
Zaid Jilani@ZaidJilani

Not to go full Romney but how will the auto bailout be looked at in the future? Detroit didn’t fundamentally retool their companies in any way and now they’re going to be stomped by the Chinese.

During the Vietnam War, the Playboy plane was used to bring thousands of babies and Vietnamese children to the U.S. in an operation called "Babylift." The news reported that they were war children wandering the streets and that they would be taken to New York to be given up for adoption. These children were never seen or mentioned again.

@Liesorliars A crucial piece here is that Epstein was based at MIT in 2014. It was ex-CIA director John Deutch who partnered with Vekselberg and Deripaska around Russia shale and money laundering, then weapons development w Putin. Enter Aaron Swartz downloading content from MIT server.

THE INTELLIGENCE Larry Summers was asking Jeffrey Epstein for intelligence on Kazakhstan. This was 2014. Kazakhstan was at a critical juncture. The tenge was under pressure. Oil revenues were falling. The political succession after Nursultan Nazarbayev (Kazakhstan's longtime ruler) was becoming a live question. The country sat between Russia and China at one of the most strategically significant crossroads in Central Asia. Summers sent Epstein one line. "Kazakhs. What do u hear?" He was not asking an analyst. He was not calling a think tank. He was asking a convicted sex offender what he was hearing about the internal situation in a Central Asian petrostate. Epstein heard plenty. He was tracking the Kazakh currency devaluation. He was in contact with Terje Rod-Larsen — the senior UN diplomat and former Middle East peace envoy who was simultaneously appearing in the Steve Bannon thread as Epstein's back-channel to Kazakh power. Epstein was asking about conversations Rod-Larsen had been having with Kazakh officials. He was monitoring Julie — an unidentified intermediary who had her own direct line to the Kazakh deputy governor. Summers had his own sources. He forwarded Epstein a Kazakhstan macro flash report from a financial institution with 3 words of commentary. "They r a mess." Epstein and Summers were jointly running a parallel intelligence operation on Kazakhstan. Terje Rod-Larsen was the shared diplomatic back-channel. The same network that appeared in the Bannon thread was running simultaneously through the Summers thread. A former US Treasury Secretary and a convicted sex offender were jointly monitoring the internal politics and economics of a Central Asian state using a senior UN diplomat as their shared source. Who else was in this network and what were they doing with the intelligence. Source: DOJ Epstein Files Transparency Act release. Jmail Email Archive. larry-summers thread. 2014 and 2015.

THE ADVISER Larry Summers was routing Mongolian government advisory work through Jeffrey Epstein and asking Epstein whether he had made a mistake. This was October 2015. Someone had approached Summers on behalf of the Mongolian government seeking economic advice. Mongolia was in financial trouble, squeezed by China, commodity prices collapsing, its currency under pressure. Summers wanted to help but first needed to know whether Mongolia was in good or bad standing with the United States government. He did not call the State Department. He did not call the Treasury. He asked Epstein. Summers sent this. "Someone approached me on their behalf looking for advice. They are apparently in financial trouble, squeezed by China etc. No idea if I can or want to help them but wondered whether they are in good or bad or I suspect neutral graces of USA." Epstein's response was immediate. "not sure / i will see the president next week in paris and ask" Epstein was meeting the President of Mongolia in Paris the following week. He would ask directly. A convicted sex offender living under a non-prosecution agreement was the intelligence channel between a former US Treasury Secretary and a foreign head of state. Summers then asked whether the World Bank was involved. Epstein warned him that it was and was not sure how they felt about Summers. Summers responded with 4 words. "Did I goof up?" He was asking Epstein whether his approach to the Mongolian government had created a problem with the World Bank. Epstein was his adviser, his intelligence source, and his reputational risk manager simultaneously. Nathan Sheets — the Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs — had separately provided Summers with an official Treasury assessment of Mongolia's standing. Summers forwarded it to Epstein. A former Treasury Secretary was sharing official Treasury Department assessments of a foreign government with a convicted sex offender while simultaneously using that sex offender as his primary intelligence channel to the Mongolian president. THE PITCH Jeffrey Epstein told Larry Summers he wanted to make a couple of billion dollars and sent him a link to the IRS whistleblower programme. This was February 19 2013. Epstein was living under his 2008 non-prosecution agreement. Summers had served as US Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton from 1999 to 2001 and as Director of the National Economic Council under Barack Obama from 2009 to 2010. He was one of the most powerful economists in American history. Epstein sent Summers an IRS link to Internal Revenue Code Section 7623b — the federal whistleblower statute that pays informants 15 to 30 percent of unpaid taxes recovered from corporations and individuals. Then he laid out the scheme. "no, we would go to irs, and agree that we would construct a swat team of the best practitioners and instead of bounty, be paid a 20% instead of 30% fee on tax paid. I promise at least 2 billion in tax the first year." Epstein was proposing a private tax enforcement operation. Assemble the best tax lawyers and accountants. Go to the IRS as a private contractor. Accept a reduced fee of 20 percent instead of the statutory maximum of 30. In exchange for guaranteed results. 2 billion dollars in recovered tax in year one. Summers responded: "Interesting." Then: "Doubt this works but lets discuss." A convicted sex offender was pitching a scheme to extract 2 billion dollars from the American tax system to one of the architects of that system. Summers was not dismissing it. He was asking to discuss it. Who else was Epstein pitching and what other schemes were in development. Source: DOJ Epstein Files Transparency Act release.
