@jimman178 @EthanGSN So why didn’t the new GM, who you seem to have complete faith in, go out and improve the 4th line then? He was not handcuffed to those players you listed by any means (not to mention Lee certainly produces so not even sure why you included him)
English

@edddjonnn @EthanGSN It's a mess as in the 3rd and 4th lines don't produce any offense I don't care about what they are paid I want production. Look up the Canes 4th line production vs the isles. If our 4th line produced like that we would win a lot more games.
English

There’s a lot of “fire Roy” talk tonight - I disagree - and this GM hasn’t shown he really deserves to pick the next coach.
Isles all in@Islesallin
@EthanGSN They both should be shown the door if they miss the playoffs.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN Honestly the potential biggest “mess” right now is Alex Romanov for 8 years at $6.25m - remind me again who signed that deal?
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN I can’t tell if you’re being purposefully dense for the sake of blaming Lou or if you genuinely don’t understand how any of this works… nothing about anything you listed constitutes as a “mess” nor does it impact the ability to reshape/improve the roster if you so choose.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN Not saying I’m always right but at least I can try to look at this in an objective way and not just blindly defend one GM because of my bias towards another…
(You still haven’t told me what, exactly, was such a “mess” that Lou left us btw)
English

@edddjonnn @EthanGSN You never know Eddie every twitter GM thinks they know what they are doing. Maybe you should apply you seem to have the proper credentials and know exactly how to win a Stanley cup!
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN Wouldn’t it have been nice to have an extra 1st round pick to play with over the summer as you try to improve the roster? Maybe it’s just me but I’d prefer to have a nice trade chip to improve my young team rather than an underperforming 35 year old middle-sixer.
English

@edddjonnn @EthanGSN And in the off-season he can make more improvements to the roster and see how we look in October.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN 2nd in the metro because of two players Darche had no impact on adding… yet struggling to hold a playoff spot a month later because of 3 players he did…
Would imagine your low bar for what you consider “failure” probably applies to the trade deadline then, no?
English

@edddjonnn @EthanGSN They were 2nd in the metro because of 48 and 30. Team has had flaws all season where's that Stanley Cup Lou won us? When was the last time we made it to the ECF? Because since Lou got rid of Trotz the team has been a failure.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN What exactly was “Lou’s mess?”
Because, again, Lou’s “mess” was 2nd in the metro at the deadline with Darche’s big Drouin signing weighing them down all year…
Then he moved what would’ve been a nice trade chip this summer to ditch that contract and add a 35 year old Schenn
English

@edddjonnn @EthanGSN You can't fix Lou's mess in less than a year. He has done what he can with the roster without selling the farm. He gave away one 1st round pick on a player who wouldn't help this team for 4 to 5 years. You must be from the instant gratification era.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN Are we forgetting that Eiserman was a late 1st round pick that we acquired from another team?
Also you’re doing a lot of defending and not a lot of answering the initial question… how did any of this fix “Lou’s mess” (what “mess” even was there to begin with)?
English

@edddjonnn @EthanGSN Bro get over the 1st round pick it was Colorado's who even knows if the player was gonna be worth a damn. He didn't trade Eiserman for fucks sake. You are talk about a prospect we wouldn't see for 4/5 years who knows what the team looks like then.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN You’re not “taking a chance” on 34-35 year old players though - those are proven commodities; they are what they are & that’s not what this team needed, especially at that cost. You could’ve wound up in the same position by standing pat and you’d still have the 1st as an asset.
English

@edddjonnn @EthanGSN Yes and the "1st round picks" is gonna be 30th to 32nd overall pick. Pretty much a 2nd. That s dart on a dart board and a player we won't see for 4 to 5 maybe 6 years. I rather take the chance on these players the didn't pan out and see what happens.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN But I’ll do your work for you: “Lou’s mess” of a roster was 2nd in the Metro at the deadline; their worst player was a Darche signing… he traded multiple assets (including a 1st) for 3 aging players who haven’t contributed and now they’re at risk of missing playoffs altogether.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN Answering the question with a question is certainly a position.
English

@EthanGSN Too many mental mistakes, missed assignments, and poor situational hockey for a team of “vets” - as pedestrian as the roster seems (beyond 3-4 guys), it also feels like Roy isn’t doing enough to consistently put his team in positions to win the tough/important games.
English

@jimman178 @EthanGSN Which of Darche’s additions has helped to improve “Lou’s mess?”
English

I fear the #Isles still have not found their long term answer at the head coaching position.
English

@Louis_Onofrio @philzfactz What? I’d personally love to give some of the AHL guys a look and Isles fans are notoriously clamoring for call-ups and for this org to “let the kids play”
English

@edddjonnn @philzfactz these people will cry their eyes out you as well if they played an AHL player over Shabby or Duclair
English

Imagine caring about Bridgeport over the actual NHL team
Louis@Louis_Onofrio
@philzfactz yea let’s call up there best players and ruin there last season in BPT
English

@Louis_Onofrio @philzfactz Hopefully they’re saving room in the rafters at UBS for the Bridgeport playoff banner
English

@philzfactz that’s why you’re not a GM coach or player, we know you wanna be those things soooo bad
English

@kevinseanfeeney @RTaub_ @IslesGirl4 Sure - or the alternative was to recognize that this team still isn’t a finished product yet and to not let Sorokin’s Vezina campaign & the emergence of Schaefer pull you away from the long term blueprint you had going into this season
English

@edddjonnn @RTaub_ To your point, the great @IslesGirl4 said at the time, "John Carlson" was the guy to trade 1st for. The D has to be addressed.
English

Darche has been on the job 313 days.
The franchise is nowhere near where he wants them to be, and I think this year because of how the season progressed, conflated fans expectations and made things nuclear.
Their overachieving made fans forget there are two timelines that Darche is working on to make the team have consistent success moving forward:
The next 2 years. The next 3-5 years. This is still just year one, which I think a lot of the fanbase have forgotten.
The disconnect is because he tried to fill a few holes that were there. Soucy wasn’t supposed to be a “reward,” neither was Palat. They were trades to assist in certain aspects. Have they been bad? To a degree, yes. But it could have easily been the same with Warren, George, Zamula or whoever was there. The same goes for Duclair and Shabanov. Fans wanted them in, and the minute they make a mistake, they want them nowhere near the lineup.
There needs to be some semblance of patience. But in today’s world, it’s about instant gratification, which makes the “long-term” vision aspect get lost in translation. #Isles
Ryan🏝@rattmartin
The disconnect with Darche is “what the Islanders can be.” He could’ve shown better process and long-term vision than Lou, but after 27 years I accept the Isles will always drag us into the trenches for 82 games, do dumb shit, and sometimes win through grit instead of talent.
English

@Louis_Onofrio @philzfactz Is it better to have the guy who’s 5 years older, making $1.5m more, and still under contract for another year or the guy who’s younger, cheaper, and has no long term cap implications?
English

Blues have the best record in hockey since dumping Schenn.
Louis@Louis_Onofrio
it’s funny i haven’t seen a word about the isles should of trade for Kyrou who has two goals since the trade deadline, i love this fan base #Isles
