@saylordocs When a worker pays their tax ,Their money is taxed entirely through their pay, and it's usually their sole means of income. When someone like bezos says he pays 40% of his income ,he means the wage level he set and gave to himself through his companies ,.....

@TheHashton @BladeoftheS All wealth is debt and is taxable the moment you start spending it .The reason Sunak doesn't pay tax is because he doesn't spend it ,he uses assets to borrow from creating more debt thus increasing the national debt which all tax payers contribute to pay off .

@BladeoftheS wtf are you talking about? What are those maths? Why would he pay tax on his total wealth every year and not what he makes in a year like the rest of us? Politics of envy, devoid of logic.

The revelation that Sunak has paid £1M in tax in the last 3 years 0.13% of his £720m wealth. While the average person has paid about £45k or 14%, 100x as much. Should open your eyes to just how much and how blatantly the rich dodge tax

Well, that’s one way to make sure nobody ever comes to our country again to make major investments and/or start businesses. And to make sure those already here quickly scarper. Good luck forcing them still to pay after they’ve left. And all for a measly £10bn a year (of course it will be nowhere near that in reality) — 0.7% of actual annual government spending. Much more, of course, will be lost in capital flight and foregone future investment. Is the country going bonkers?
Emma Fildes@emmafildes

A recent study suggests that by imposing a minimum 2% charge on households with more than £100m in wealth; £10bn could be raised annually to HMRC. To stop the wealthy from jumping ship, they’d force the rich to pay the tax for at least 10 years after they quit the UK. They estimated this would affect only 1,000 households and would therefore be easier to implement. Yet the wealthy are also exceptional at hiding wealth so I don’t believe any audit would be straightforward. @phillipinman @guardian theguardian.com/business/2026/

The government isn’t “run by” the private sector — it decides who gets the contracts and spends the taxpayers’ money. Yes, crony deals like Lady Mone and certain PPE contracts were disgraceful and should be pursued. But that doesn’t explain why the Whole of Government Accounts have failed proper audits for three years straight. That’s a public sector accountability failure. The bigger issue is the state spending ever more money with weak oversight. Less wasteful spending and better controls would reduce the opportunities for cronyism on all sides.

@B3lladawg @coringapolitico The state is run by the private sector .Government contracts given to private sector .If there is no proper audits look to the private sector . Lets start with Lady Mone and all the other private companies who got paid billiones from public purse.

Someone claims this is just how capitalism works. But let’s be clear. The UK’s Whole of Government Accounts have failed a proper audit for three years running — so we don’t even know accurately what all this debt and record tax revenue is actually paying for. Yes, debt can fund things and taxes can (in theory) manage inflation. But when the public sector has chronic accountability failures, we’re effectively socialising losses while privatising gains for well-connected interests. The private sector is being squeezed with higher taxes and regulation, while the state keeps expanding through nationalisations and welfare. This isn’t textbook capitalism. It’s moving toward a more interventionist, state-heavy social democratic model — where the state takes more control, borrows heavily, and the risks fall on the taxpayer.

@SentinelDir @nicksortor Best world cup hmmmmmmm. If you mean humiliating teams from Africa ,delaying them in customs then flying them out directly after their matches . And keeping Africa's greatest referee out of the country.

@B3lladawg @coringapolitico Someone doesn't know how capitalism works. Debt pays for things ,taxes controls the inflation the debt creates putting more money in the economy. And rich people don't spend their money ,so they create more debt borrowing on assets .

@coringapolitico Is he saying this because he actually knows people who are starving, or because he saw it on the news? If he wants socialism, he should move to the UK. The government will gladly tax his wealth and hand a small portion of it to the poor in exchange for votes.

@eddyhuttory @BladeoftheS there are plenty of people who go from "working class" to retiring as millionaires. They're not all "foremen" Whatever film you're referring to is irrelevant. 1200 millionaires a day are minted in the US. The bulk of them were "working" for a living.

Lets just clear this up. You are Working Class if you have to work a regular job or did. If you are a millionaire or a Landlord or are a TV presenter or anyone else who is rich enough to not actually need to work any more. You are not Working Class.

We got within 15 minutes of a World Cup final and now everyone absolutely lays into the manager who got us there within 18 months of being appointed. We do not have a squad of world class players. I’m as gutted as you all are, but this was a massive achievement. I refuse to get on yet another self destructive band wagon.
