Based on the replies, Ben Stokes is basically locked into the XI because of his bowling, past glory, and the fact that there's no one to replace him yet. But looking ahead, who is likely to be England's long-term all-rounder and captain? I'm just curious to know some names.

@FabrizioRomano If it were done on pure management it’s Iraola he’s lost all of his top players and still the team overachieves. It will probably go to Guardiola because he may do treble despite being able to just buy them in the January window. The league has lost its soul.

With England ahead going into the last test the groundsman could have a created a road for the batters so we would win but they created a result wicket. I like Siraj

Largely putting to one side the players I wish would be selected but won’t be selected (ie Sibley), this is currently what I would go for for the 1st Test: Gay Duckett Bethell Root Brook Rew (wk) — although I could’ve gone Smith and England may do that Stokes (c) Atkinson Archer Tongue Crane — bet they won’t pick him though
